In the novel The Curiosity by Stephen P. Kiernan, the big idea is the controversy happening in the novel because a man frozen in ice for a hundred plus years is brought back to life. The frozen man’s name is Jeremiah Rice and the man in charge of the research team that found him in the Arctic is Erastus Carthage. Dr. Kate Philo was in charge of the team and she becomes close friend to Jeremiah. One reads the book from the point of views of Mr. Carthage, Dr. Kate, Jeremiah, and Daniel Dixon. Mr. Dixon is the INTREPID reporter that was present when Jeremiah was taken out of the ice alongside Kate. He the one that doubts and is wondering about future one hasn't read yet. The beginning of the book has a very OMINOUS feel because Kate talks of a tragedy that will happen and it involves Jeremiah. The frozen man is an ALIEN to this new world and one has a long rode to see what will happen to him.
