It unfolds like a horror book so far. And the language is a little too formal in some parts.
Yeah, but I like it! I always enjoy book set in the late 1800s. I love that time in history, though her brother is a pompous little snob.

I like the way they talk and the entire culture, though they were quite sexist towards women and the higher classes a little too snobby! :)

Sorry, but I am really far behind at the moment. I am only about six chapters in! I am trying to read too many books t once. Sorry. I will try and catch up ASAP. Where are you up to? :)

I am only 27% though sorry! What are you thinking about it so far? I am finding really good! I like the setting and Gemma though I want to know more about her visions and that guy who is watching her! Creepy!

I love this series! It's one of my all time favorites :)
50% - I don't know what I think about this book. I got bored at the beginning and put if off for a bit - sorry about that! - but I have read a lot more this morning and I still have no idea if I like Gemma or not. (view spoiler)
100% - I'm finished! I don't know quite how I feel about it, but I know that I didn't really enjoy it much. I loved the beginning. It was gripping and I expected that to continue for the whole book, but, alas, I was to be disappointed. I didn't find myself loving any of it. I didn't really like Gemma much. I mean she was okay, but nothing special. I guessed the "big twist" ((view spoiler)) way before Gemma, which was annoying for me.
I still haven't finished. But from what you say, it seems to me I was right. This book had a promising beginning but it lost me along the way.

You're absolutely right. Started off good and slowly got worse and worse until I couldn't bare it any more and then, luckily, it finished.
Still 50% through. But I can't finish it any time soon. Too busy for it.

I really enjoyed it all the way through. Though I do have to say you are right about the beginning shining brighter than the end. I was gripped throughout the book but noticed myself reading less and less each day, not sure if it was because I was not wanting it to end or if I was just losing interest. I tried reading the second book but didn't really get captivated. But I would like to try if you will allow me.
I am glad you enjoyed it Alexandria! I thought the beginning was a lot, lot better than the ending. Really? My friend said the second book was better, but sure who am I to stop you? I would love to buddy read it with you guys but I have to order it in from the library and that may take awhile so feel free to read it anyway.
I will have to order it from the library as well so it may take some time also.
