I think anime and manga both have their good points. Anime is animated and has colors. It usually has better art than manga. Usually. The plot would usually be better too. Usually. Not all the time. Manga has its vantage too. You can learn more Japanese words in the process and the art is pretty good too. It's easier for people to learn to draw.
I like manga because I don't have to waste my time on anime. I can read faster than the film unrolls and come out. I like subbed, dubbed is too weird. The voice just sounds... Odd.
I watch Anime read manga occasionally. I like how in anime because they aren't real people playing them, so I get less choked up when they die. I'm a subbed person most of my friends are, it feels more authentic.Favourite anime has to be sakamichi no Apollon (Kids on the slope). Favourite genre is tough, I watch a variety and enjoy most of them, so genre is none.
What I'm watching right now is none I'm between animes, so who knows.
Manga I've tried (notably) One Piece, Fist of the north star, Hajime no ippo, Bloody Monday, FMA, FMP, DBZ, Bleach, Berserk, Rurouni Kenshin, Desu Noto, Uzumaki, History's strongest disciple kenichi, D gray man, Elfen Lied, Hellsing, CLaymore....etc....Berserk went kinda disturbing, even worse than horror core weirdest mangas..or it's just me..I may as well start to read where I left it. heheIf you're new to manga/anime, I suggest you must, MUST go for One Piece. It's my fav. anime and manga of all time hands down. Endless adventure, comedy, action and all over awesomeness. You wont be disappointed. Or if you want a short one that ends soon, go for Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo...
About anime, prefer watching subbed ones; can't stand a dubbed one. It just takes half of the essence right there..Mostly I watch what I've read, it's a deep experience. They don't play with the story in animes like they do while making movies from books, they just give those mangas life and that makes everyone happy.
Re-watching one piece these days (while keeping touch with the new episodes) and just started watching Fairy Tail...
I couldn't figure why all the hype around Naruto. It was great the first 100 mangas but it lost all that charm in shippuden...and it's becoming endless.
You too Lia. Thanks. My gateway anime was DBZ hehe. I still love watching them like I used to as a kid.
How do you like Gurren Lagaan, Gantz, Air Gear, Ghost in The Shell as anime?
Think you'll like the anime series 'Berserk'; even better the recently made the series into a two part movie. Third one's on the way....they available on bluray, you wont be disappointed (shhh, download them lol). But feel free to avoid its manga, it's great but dark, disturbing...
Did you guys watch FMA: Brotherhood?
Lia wrote: "Ooh wow, Som you have excellent taste. I love the ones you stated. Cowboy Bebop was my gateway anime, I loved watching it as a kid. Also Hajime no ippo, I loved watching that with my cousins :D I..."
I don't mind on the name, But yes it is Levi, he's one of my favourites, him and Jean and Petra (view spoiler). I watched them and then started reading them but found it really painful (view spoiler). But none the less really enjoyed the series.
Its also nice to see Cowboy Bebop fans none of my friends got into it, the Space Cowboy theme is one of my favourites with Firefly and Bebop. Plus Samurai Shamploo and Bebop and Kids on the Slope are all done by the same director who I saw at MCM in June, which was pretty awesome.
Somnambulist wrote: "Anyone watched Death Note?"Nope. But my friend keeps on telling me to, and I keep on saying I will but I always start watching another one.
But I will.
Yeah it's a good one; they even made coupla live action movies of it..which was surprisingly spot on and very well acted. If you don't have time for the anime/manga for a start; tis a good alternative...http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0758742/

Sure lolHave anyone watched Fairy Tail? I'm watching it, too much fun! Also Trigun and GunGrave if there's a bit of time; both are pretty good.
Trigun's main dude 'Vash the stampede', is highly inspiring in a way...Fairy Tail is exciting; also trying to get a hold on another much recommended series, "Monster"...
Lia...Monster is like a medical crime drama with cognitive detective scenes, with a bit of politics; a serious, deep anime. Started watching it, 10 episodes down; so far will give it 9/10.
Great opening track, it's now my ringtone! (:

I want to watch Ergo Proxy; think you'll like it, it's dystopian cyberpunk with androids in it
Plot:
In a post-apocalyptic future humans live in peace with androids in a domed city. However, a strange series of murders has intruded into bored inspector Re-l Mayer's life.

Somurai wrote: "Anyone watched Death Note?"Yes, I was a big Death Note fan until it ended. In addition to the movies, there's a novel.
It's pretty good.
I have friends that read/watch anime and manga, but I've never really been into it. Although some of these friends have tried their HARDEST to get me into it...
