I have so many titles in my Library that it's easy to lose track and think for a wild moment that the Audible recommendation means I somehow never bought that book smack in the middle of a series or one by a favorite author I had been sure I had fully explored. A few times I've seen that the title may be the same but the narrator is different than the one I previously bought. The bad thing is that I now tend to ignore these recommendations and only check them at rare intervals--I used to frequently end up buying one.
John wrote: "I thought that odd also, but I don't take their "recommendations" into account in the first place."No, I don't either. 'Recommended books' are rarely something I'd actually like.
I've found that sometimes the recommendations are spot on but I have already listened to the books elsewhere i.e. Overdrive/library and I've thought yes, you are right I did enjoy that title.
Joy wrote: "It would be nice if you could indicate books listened to like you can indicate books read on Amazon. Or books you already own maybe."It would be nice!

We think these are both fantastic ideas! We have passed them onto the proper department to be taken into consideration.
Please feel free to email any other suggestions you have to greatideas@audible.com. We often incorporate ideas that come through there, so sending an email can go a long way.
Happy listening, everyone!
I would like an option to sort my library by books I have rated and those I have not. I add books throughout the year and would like to be able to see the ones I have not read/rated so that I do not have to search through my entire library.
Susan wrote: "I would like an option to sort my library by books I have rated and those I have not. I add books throughout the year and would like to be able to see the ones I have not read/rated so that I do no..."Yes, that would be helpful to me too!
I like Audible very much. Many times, I find that a particular book I want is not in Audible and I would like to suggest to Audible that I am interested in this book and please plan to bring it out and also, keep me updated when it is out. Is there a way to do this already? Else, I would like Audible to start a "waiting for books" feature where someone can add book titles, and all those interested in that book could click/register their interest. This way, Audible will find which books people are waiting for and a fair idea of how many people will buy that book when it is out. Win-win situation for both Audible and listeners.
Oh, I like this idea! +1
Although in your case, since you're in the UK, Audible may not have the rights to the books you are seeking.

I've gone to Amazon where they have a button to indicate if I want this on audio, but it's impossible to gauge whether it is effective. Plus, no notifications. I hate having to check all the time to see if a desired title has finally shown up. For example, Broken Homes from the Peter grant series appeared last Thursday on Audible, finally, and I found it yesterday but am one of those people who want it as soon as it comes out.

We have forwarded your idea to our team for consideration. If you have any other suggestions, feel free to email greatideas@audible.com.
The Amazon link for request this in audiobook just rarely ever shows for me on any books. So many times I've looked for it on books I've been looking for audio versions of, and it isn't there. However, I ALWAYS see the link on Kindle comics. Comics. What the heck is the use of an audiobook version of a comic?
For the blind? LOL!
(Full disclosure - I'm visually impaired myself, so please don't send me hate mail!)

Me too... I got the joke ;)
I was just at the Audible website and keep seeing the same recommendations. Frustrating. I knew we discussed it here and found this thread from 6 months ago. Since there appears no change between then and now, I send a note to greatideas@audible.com as suggested by Audible in this thread.I'll keep you posted on any personal reply I may receive.

I am the moderator of the audiobooks group at Goodreads and have an idea for improvement.
The Audible homepage contains stale recommendations based upon my Audible purchases. I have used this functionality in the past to find some additional good listens. However, the ones currently showing are old and never update. Many of the current recommendations showing are books I've have already read or listened to from other sources. I assume until those are removed, I'll never get revised recommendations.
Therefore, I would like to suggest a way to mark recommendations as "not interested" or "already own" so that fresher, more pertinent recommendations rise to the top. I believe Amazon used to have this functionality in the past. Many would find it very valuable and I'm certain would result in increased sales for Audible.

Our recommendation tool definitely has room for improvement and we are working on it every day.
In the meantime, since recos are based off your purchase history, please try to rate as many titles as you can in your Audible Library to train the tool in offering better options.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the quick response.Every title is rated...that's why the recos don't change. Until I can tweak the recos by noting them as "not interested" or "already read" (elsewhere), I don't believe they'll change.

No problem. Since that is the case, the recommendations will remain similar to what you've experienced until we update the site. Until then, we appreciate your patience and understanding.

That is a feature I'd like to have is a clickable button to say I already read this, because there are times I see the recommendations and say yes you are right I did enjoy that!

It's encouraging to hear you say there will be an update to the site where this might be addressed--it gives me hope.
Sadly that was the one feature of the much maligned site redo (which has since been pulled) that I actually really liked.
I am 3 titles short to 800 in my Audible library and their recommendation is just so so. Is there anyway to turn it off on the site? I find it to be annoying.
Stelleri wrote: "The last few sales have included emails telling me that items on my wish list were on sale. I had removed the books, however--I bought one or two, and decided against the others. Some of these were..."Yes, that's happened to me regularly. Sometimes I might reconsider the book if it's on sale but usually there's a reason I took it off. I try to keep a somewhat realistic wish list on Audible, about 10 books, rather than everything I might ever want. (I have other lists for that!)
Nearly 6 years and still no change, at this point I find it very hard to believe Audible is actually making changes to this as they claim. Shame on them for saying what they think we want to hear as empty platitudes.
This is actually quite irritating. My recommended list consists mostly of books that I have read through other sources other than Audible. I've read them so I'm not going to buy them so telling me about them is a waste of my time and Audible's. I would like to be recommended books I might like to purchase according to what I've listened to and enjoyed before though. Audible loses out by doing it this way, so it would be a smarter plan to change it so you can mark or dismiss books on the recommended list as read (or books you aren't interested in) and offer ones that are far more likely to be bought. It just makes business sense.
Rahbeka wrote: "This is actually quite irritating. My recommended list consists mostly of books that I have read through other sources other than Audible. We've all made that same valid arguments multiple times, and the same placating "great idea, we'll pass it on to our tech people" response has come over and over with no action.
I guess it's fair to say Audible doesn't see value in making targeted recommendations. They seem mostly interested now in pushing their Audible Originals, which are always touted as best sellers, but is it really a "sale" if it's free and people are grabbing it just because there's no risk?

Now, as I was typing this, I just noticed that the Audible history section shows books that other people bought based on what I viewed, so I can understand that, even if I'd prefer not seeing audiobooks I already own. However, I think the "We though you'd like..." section should only have books I don't have in my Audible library.
