Hi Kitten! Do you have preference in how to do the buddy read? Pages or chapters?

No preference I haven't done a buddy read before. Do you have a preference?

Chapters would probably be better.

I've done several buddy reads. Looking at the book there are total of 22 Chapters with about 20 Pages per Chapter. How about 3 Chapters a day? And if you want to we could read the whole series at one book per month? Just an idea. I don't know what your reading speed is but mine tends to be fast. I promise to take into account that you've not done a buddy read before. Let me know what you think of my ideas and suggestions.

Finished Chapter 3
(view spoiler)[It's always interesting to me when books are turned into movies how different characters often are in the two mediums. I find that the characters so far seem a lot different. Frodo in particular seems way more grumpy in this version. I will be interested to see how things play out. The story seems to be moving very slowly at this point. I'm curious if the pace will pick up. Though I remember from reading The Hobbit that Tolkien tends to be a very descriptive writer and commonly goes off on tangents (hide spoiler)]

My hubby bought the omnibus of the trilogy so that's what I'll be reading from.

My mom decided to give me all three plus The Hobbit two Christmases ago. I figured it was about time to get around to reading them. I have already read the Hobbit twice. Hoping I love these as much as I loved The Hobbit.

I've read The Hobbit awhile ago. I'm hoping doing a buddy read with make reading LOR easier for me.

Finished Chapter 6 earlier today

What is your opinions/thoughts so far?

I read chapters 1-6 today. I tend to agree about having the characters being portrayed in books and movies. (view spoiler)[Generally speaking though Frodo from the book to the movies I believe is combination of the two. My reasoning for that is Frodo still very much the heart of the book where as Sam is the heart of the movies. Tom and Gandalf seem to be more magical at least I think so anyway. I think the lack of Gandlf's appearance is very telling. (hide spoiler)]

Finished chapter 8 Interested to see where things go from here. (view spoiler)[The black figure coming down over the wall after they had entered the town was quite ominous. Also in my opinion the hobbit party seems to be quite careless still despite all the misfortune they have encountered because of it. (hide spoiler)]

I've read thru chapters 7 to the end of Book 1. I agree black figure is quite ominous. I also believe there is a bit of luck surrounding them thus far in the their journey. Where is Gandalf? (hide spoiler)]

I have read thru chapter 3 in book 2. (view spoiler)[Good to see the group all together and Gandalf safe and sound. I was getting annoyed with Boromir during the secret meeting haha. Also good to see the group get a little break before heading out again and being the assailed by just about everything. It must be terrifying to have danger and spies literally everywhere. I've read thru in book 2 up to chapter 7. (view spoiler)[I'm not really a big fan of Boromir at this point. He strikes me as spoiled in some ways. I'm glad that Gandalf is going with Frodo and company. I agree danger and spies from every corner would be frightening to me at least. (hide spoiler)]

I finished on the 29th it was sooooo good.

I just finished the second book and now on chapter 3 in the fourth book. Do you still want to continue reading the series?
