Shirley | 4177 comments I've copied this from another book club - apparently some of Amazon's reductions are for a limited time only - just click on the book and it tells you when the offer ends...

Aww! Already bought my copy for our readalong, but it was a paperback and still cheaper than Waterstones. So, still a win-win.

Tweedledum (tweedledum) | 2176 comments Tolkien fans : the hobbit, fellowship, tt, ROTK and Silmarillian have all got big price drops at the moment on amazon UK.

message 15: by Chatterjak (new)

Chatterjak | 89 comments Ooh, I've only just found this thread! Fantastic! I love a bargain - and when you're addicted to reading it can get expensive quickly can't it?!! I've found it's worth having a good search every day - I only ever get three daily deal offers if I look on the kindle, but if I use the computer/iPad & search the website there's often quite a few bargains. Also doing a search for 'literary fiction' gave out more diverse options. Hope that's helpful!

Now that would be a difficult read for many of us!

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

That's a shame Leslie. I've not read them but my boyfriend loves them so whilst at 99p I bought the whole series! It's very easy to spend £10 on the kindle and I have no idea when I'll read them! Ooops

I got hooked on this series during Perks 'Read the World Scandinavia' and have been requesting them one by one from the library!

I know, I can't resist either!!

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

I've ordered
The End of Winter
Band-Aid for a Broken Leg
Under the Dome
Fall of Giants

Got to page 10 in order of popularity and started to get a bit bored!

message 30: by Pink (new)

Pink Oh no, I found some bargains on The Book People and ordered them! They were so good I couldn't resist!

Gollancz 50th Anniversary sci-fi fantasy 8 book collection for £5

Penguin Great Loves 20 book collection for £7

There's some great books and authors I've been meaning to read in these sets, now I must ignore all tempting sales emails!

message 31: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) All you Neil Gaiman fans, there are quite a few of his books down to £1.49 today on Kindle in the UK.

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

Just ordered Stardust but I think I will resist the others

message 33: by Gill (new)

Gill | 5719 comments The Grass is Singing by Doris Lessing is the Kindle daily deal in the UK today - 99p.

message 34: by [deleted user] (new)

Maybe in the New Year Ill add up how much I've spent on my kindle in December. Then I'll cry.

message 35: by Gill (new)

Gill | 5719 comments Heather wrote: "Maybe in the New Year Ill add up how much I've spent on my kindle in December. Then I'll cry."

I'll be joining you there, Heather!

message 36: by Shirley (new)

Shirley | 4177 comments Bit of a shame The Grass is Singing didn't win the poll!

message 37: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) Thanks very much Gill!! I have bought it, and that will enable me to at last get rid of the very battered page-tanned ex-library large print copy I have :)

I don't seem to get the same "daily deals" offered on my kindle that are mentioned here. If I hadn't searched for it by name I wouldn't have found that one. Has anyone else found that they vary? Maybe Amazon try to "tailor" them. In which case I don't think much of their suggestions LOL

Shirley - we could always do a readalong for it?

This is the page I get, Jean.

message 39: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) Thank you - I have bookmarked that. It is different from what comes through to my actual Kindle. Weird!

message 40: by Gill (new)

Gill | 5719 comments Wow, we sorted this research project quickly!

message 41: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) LOL Gill!

message 42: by Shirley (new)

Shirley | 4177 comments Jean, I wouldn't mind actually, because at the moment the library has The Golden Notebook booked out for a while so I don't think I will be joining in with it this time. So if I buy The Grass is Singing, perhaps we could do a readalong some time?

message 43: by Pink (new)

Pink Shirley/ Jean, I couldn't resist the 99p offer of The Grass is Singing so I'd be happy for a read along of this.

message 44: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) You can get the Prequel to Bedlam Stories by Christine Converse called Bedlam stories: Project Alice and you can get it for free right now at http://www.bedlamstories.com/book.html . I got it on my tablet and can't wait to check it out! You had to open it as a zip file then opened the file to place it in your ereader as it is a pdf file.

message 45: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) Ooo lovely Shirley and Pink! When would you like to start The Grass is Singing ?

message 46: by Pink (new)

Pink I don't mind doing this one soon as I believe it's quite short

message 47: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) Yes I'm happy to fit it in any time really. Shirley?

message 48: by Cheryl (new)

Cheryl Hall | 138 comments Don't forget about Amazon's 12 days of Kindle for any e-reader's here.

message 49: by Shirley (new)

Shirley | 4177 comments Would you mind doing it after My Cousin Rachel? Actually would be better end of Jan for me as I have lots on in Jan?

message 50: by Bionic Jean (new)

Bionic Jean (bionicjean) End of January sounds good :) Maybe if Pink is OK with that too we can add it to the readalong thread so (I) don't forget!
