I'm about to finish Murakami's A Wild Sheep Chase then I'm running to my local book store to find something new!
Qiu Xiaolong's Death of a Red Heroine. I found out about him through an article in the New York Times about how the editors in mainland China are censoring bits and pieces of books that are translated into Chinese.
I am currently reading Johnny Cash The Life by Robert Hilburn It is excellent so far. I knew Johnny Cash was troubled but I had no idea just how long his addictions and personal problems went on for. This book is just really eye opening if you are a Johnny Cash fan.

It is really good but pretty sad and heavy at the same time. I am about halfway through it. He had a lot of demons. I think if you are a Cash fan you will like it but you might come away with a different point of view of the hero/superstar vs. the man.

I was thrilled to find Love, Dishonor, Marry, Die, Cherish, Perish by David Rakoff
at my local library. It's a short novel/ novella with illustrations written in rhymed couplets.I finished recently the YA historical mystery novel Palace of Spies.

Pour me a glass of champagne, I am done with all 1,540 pages of Clarissa, or, the History of a Young Lady! Next up is the one of our group reads, Imogen Binnie's Nevada.
Ancient Evenings, Norman Mailer. I didn't know what to expect from this, but I find it magnificently written and a valiant attempt to re-create ancient mindsets. Absolutely love it.
Sand Daughter, Crusades from the Muslim side. Has a love story between a tribal Arab lad and Salah ad-Din's nephew. Fun book.
I am now reading the group read Two Spirits A Story of Life with the Navajo. It is pretty good so far.

Oh, I will be interested to know how that is. I have that on my list also.

The Price of Salt by Patricia Highsmith for the Lesbian Book Club book of the month. It was first published in 1952. I'm so enjoying how dated and subtle the love story is.

Oh, that has been on my "to read" list forever. I will be interested in how that is.

Oh good to know, I will move it up on the list. Thanks!

I'm halfway through and really enjoying it. 4-5 stars for me, I think. I definitely recommend it.Since a couple of us are reading it, or planning to soon, I'll set up a discussion topic in Buddy Reads.

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention. You were talking about The Price of Salt. I'll set up a discussion topic for that one too.
Just finished Countenance of War, which is not LGBTQ in itself, but is written by a lesbian author, an author who cares very much about historical fiction and getting her historical fiction as accurate as possible.
Here is my reivew: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Man, so many good choices here! I'm particularly interested in Fairyland. Maybe I'll pick it up as soon as I finish the new Amy Tan.
Mel asked, a long time ago: I was intrigued by the description of the David Rakoff book. How is that?Love, Dishonor, Marry, Die, Cherish, Perish I predict it will be on my best of the year book lists, Mel. It's quite wonderful!!! Also, one of the coolest covers I've seen /read this year.

Oh, I forgot about this one! Yes, I'll definitely be reading it soon.
Changing things up and reading Iron War: Dave Scott, Mark Allen, & the Greatest Race Ever Run to keep me motivated to train through the off season.
I've been reading a long military Space Opera Sci-Fi series Wayson Harris Saga and some early Charles de Lint mythic fantasy Moonheart, Greenmantle and Yarrow
During Nov I've also read The Nudo Twins which I liked and Try Anything Twice which I could not finish. Nice cover though :-)

Nancy wrote: "Tell us what you are reading this month."Finished Death of a Red Heroine and am now reading Richard K. Morgan's The Cold Commands.
I've almost finished Proust's Sodom and Gomorrah, at last. I read this one on its own, the whole In Search of... was too much for me. I'm going on with the next, though, The Captive & The Fugitive, for the further lesbian adventures of Albertine. Sodom and Gomorrah features Baron Charlus and his affairs -- it's quite interesting for 'invert' life of the times. He does have his weird ideas but they too have got to be of historical interest at least. Nobody had told me how funny Proust is, either.
I just started Devil's Knot The True Story Of The West Memphis Three by Mara Leveritt. It is already very engrossing.
