NaNoNovel 2013!

Disease.

In 2135 aliens and humans coincided on earth, with hatred and racism spreading like wildfire, creating a rift and pushing the possibility of war closer to reality. But, when a cure for cancer was distributed for free among the races, curing over half of both populations, the hatred was suppressed.

That was until five years later, when those who had been cured of cancer turned into living stone creatures - gargoyles - and became destructive, murderous, violent beasts that began fighting a war with seemingly no point. No one knew who created the drug, but the aliens and humans were forced to fight together in order to survive.

In 2142 Lydia Hale finds documents in a gargoyle lair that may lead her to further knowledge of what had happened to her father two years previous. Mysteries unfold before her eyes, and she begins questioning everything she had ever known - including whether or not the war the gargoyles are fighting is really for nothing. As she discovers more about her father, she also discovers that she may not be quite normal once she begins having violent outbursts, unable to control herself. Unable to explain any of it, she seeks more information, beginning a journey that could change her life forever, and even possibly end it.
