I would recommend Found(Missing series) and Just Ella(after you read that you have to read Palace of Mirrors!). They're all by Margaret Peterson Haddix.

whats it about?

i'll give you a rundown- the sisters grimm is a series about 2 sisters, Sabrina and Daphne. Their parents disappeared one day, and they were pronounced orphans. all of the families that they were placed with were horrible- they were forced to be pretty much slaves for one of them, and you can imagine some of the others. They managed to escape each one though. finally, they were placed with their grandmother- whom they were told was dead. long story short, they found out that they were direct descendants of the Brothers Grimm- Jacob and Whiliem- the famous fairytale writers. they found out that most all fairy tales were true and the majority of the characters lived in Ferryport Landing. they become fairy tale detectives like Granny Relda is.

there is more, but that's the basics of what the series is about.
