Yes...I'm in the midst.
;)

Really liking it so far.

Furies of Calderon

Angelof Just finished reading a book and was wondering what yo read next. I just happen to have a copy of this book in my book collection. Guess I'll start this next.

While the book is not Butcher's best it's still a good read and the series definitely worth reading.

Fascinated by these Furies.

Brent | 39 comments Currently reading and enjoying it so far.

Andreas How does a book feel being only second placed?

I just started reading the first 60 pages yesterday.

But as a second start came Old Man's War which is such a page turner that I had to read it to the end.

So, no real progress this weekend with Furies.
Story-telling is good, magic system nothing extraordinary, characters not too thin.

I enjoyed Furies.
At times, I became annoyed with the progress, but I am excited to move on to the next in this series.

Helen | 2 comments I wanted to read on but I've a good girl and have finished WOT, I cried. And an now starting Ysabel, which I don't know if I'll like. I've only read his fantasy setting books- albeit the last one could have been set in Spain.

Andreas 50% in.
I hope to learn much more about the Marat culture which seems pretty interesting - I especially liked the contrast between their totems versus the spirit (Pokemon) based Alerans (Romans).
Marat vs. Aleran also resembles nicely my recent read of Ysabel Celts vs. Romans.

Why are the elementars of the valley stronger than elsewhere? Is there some kind of survival-of-the-fittest?

DavidO (drgnangl) Going to start this as soon as the library lets me have a copy.

Jed Moomaw | 1 comments I am about 150 pages in. I am having a real hard time getting hooked and I feel like I have to force myself to read it. Does it get better as it goes on? I do not like to abandon books but I worry it might happen with this one.

DavidO (drgnangl) I hear rumors that the second volume is better, but can't personally say.

Helen | 2 comments I felt that was the weakest book but having said that, I was gripped from much earlier on and couldn't put it down.

Willow This has turned out to be one of my favorite series, but I almost stopped reading after the first book. It gets far better in the next book, I promise!

While I thought the first book was OK, I emphatically agree that the books get better. I thought the series was excellent! While there are some standard themes and plot developments, Jim Butcher managed to surprise me over and over.

I remember rolling my eyes a few times on the first book.
;)

The others get better, IMO....but it all depends on perspective and what you like, I'm sure.
