I haven't heard of her

message 13: by Sam (new)

Sam WHAT!? She's great!

message 14: by Madeline (new)

Madeline yup a classic

message 15: by Sam (new)

Sam Yeah! The original female rocker!

message 16: by Madeline (new)

Madeline lol

message 17: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) I wouldn't go as far to say she was the original fem rockerr. I beleive that was Suzi Quattro. She is an amazing vocalist though.

message 18: by Sam (new)

Sam Never heard of her....

message 19: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Look her up. Most lady rockers admit that she was their inspiration. Wikipedia covers that pretty well.

message 20: by Sam (new)

Sam Still, I stand by my theory.

message 21: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Oh well.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

Blondie's so better. (used 2 b like the coke or pepsi question, blondie or pat benetar)

message 23: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) No one in that era could match Pat Benetar's high range of vocals. Just as in the same era no one could have that low husky tone of Deborah Harry, aka Blondie. Both are awesome singers, and still going strong!

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

BLONDIE IS BEAST! WOOT

message 25: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) Ok Blondie is Beast, but don't forget that the Beast was over taken by the Sirens Song, aka Pat Benetar.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

... I am a Beatlemaniac, I just happen 2 like some of Blondie... I have no idea hwta ur talking about :) i'll stop talking now.

message 27: by Meha (new)

Meha (mehahossain) Heh.

message 28: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) It's ok Beatlemaniac you don't have to know her. You sound very young so I wouldn't except you to know.

Maybe you can check out this site for Pat Benetar.

This one for Blondie.

what does age have to do with it, exactly? i can recite to you near everything you want to know about the beatles (what, 20 yrs b4 blondie/benetar?) form memory. it just so happens i don't care to know about blondie/benetar. that sounded mean. sry. just feeling cranky!

message 30: by [deleted user] (new)

but still, age hasn't anything to do with music. ever. keep that in mind before saying anything on the topic.

message 31: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) It wasn't meant as mean. And age has alot to do with it, unless your a musician, or studying music. I would never proclaim to know all about Robert Johnson. I do know he was born in 1911, and died in 1938, and it's told that he sold his soul to the devil for his music. But that's all I know about him. Hope this doesn't offend, but i'm feeling cranky.

message 32: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) True. On the age thing. My first concert two years ago was Heart.

And I have to say, the thing between Blondie and Pat Benatar. I can't say which is better. I like them both equally. And don't under estimate the Runaways and all affiliated. They were rockers.

message 33: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) Wouldn't dream of it. They helped pave the way for all female rockers.

message 34: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) definatly. They some of my favorites. I'm trying to find the best girls in music to prove to those sexist guys that grrls can rock too. So far i got:

The Runaways
Patti Rothberg
Veruca salt
The Go-Gos
Girlschool
The Bangles
Joan and Lita

Nunmerous others you know. If you got any just tell me.

message 35: by Lori (last edited Mar 21, 2010 01:13PM) (new)

Lori (barfield) Linda Ronstadt
Patty Smyth
Patti Smith called the "Godmother of Punk"
Stevie Nicks
Christine McVie
Madonna
Gwen Stefani
Pink
Alanis Morissette
These are a few more women of rock. There are many other women who sing Jazz, Blues, Soul, and R&B.

I am thirteen and can still give you a detailed history of the Beatles. Would you like me to? just so that you can have some proof that I know what i am talking about? I have read approximately seventeen books on them, watched near on every movie made by or about them, i own all their albums, as well as several post-beatles albums, and I now listen to Julian lennon and Dhani Harrison. I do not claim to be an expert on anything else but believe you me I'm an expert on Beatles. I am the kind of beatlemaniac who has converted about six people who hated the beatles six months ago, I scream at the telly when they're on, and i can tell you quotes and lyrics for nigh on every situation in life form babies to pms to arguing with obstinant adults.

message 39: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) Well this obstinant adult will tell you that Guitar Chick-Headbanger had already listed Joan Jett. Her last women named Joan & Lita! Meaning Joan Jett & Lita Ford. ;)

message 40: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Well Joan Jett was in the Runaways, I would've put all affiliated. Exactly. Thank you Lori.

message 41: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) (guitarchick) Oh, and I love Patti Smith. Beautiful lyrics.

message 42: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) One of my favotite singers of all time is Mariah Carey.

message 43: by Lori (new)

Lori (barfield) Did you know that Pat now sings Jazz and the Blues? She still looks about the same, and she can still sing her ass off. Which might explain why she's so tiny.LOL :)

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

pat would be good if she sang 'crimson and clover', i think.

message 45: by Kelly (new)

Kelly Sheffield | 1 comments BAD REPUTATION!!! best song ever, if i was brave enough to sing karaoke that would be my pick. oh, joan, you rock
