Looking forward to starting this one. I am interested in secrets that couples keep from one another for whatever reasons...and the consequences if/when these secrets are revealed.

At the heart of the top ten bestselling The Husband's Secret by Liane Moriarty is a letter that's not meant to be read . . .

Mother of three and wife of John-Paul, Cecilia discovers an old envelope in the attic. Written in her husband's hand, it says: to be opened only in the event of my death.

Curious, she opens it - and time stops.

John-Paul's letter confesses to a terrible mistake which, if revealed, would wreck their family as well as the lives of others.

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition Still waiting for this to become available at my library....

I've got this on my kindle so going to get started today :)

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition How is the book, Kate? I was waiting for it to become available at my library for the past month, but I think I will have to break down and buy it. Is it good? I have faith in your judgement!

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition Happy New Year!

Just ordered this book and I should have it by Friday.

I also downloaded the book discussion outline for "The Husband's Secret" on my kindle app - that should be interesting!

Happy New Year Terry :) Hope you had a great Christmas and it's not too cold over there in NY!

I started this over Christmas but had to read in short bursts as so busy so found it difficult to get into!
Today I am finally sitting down for a proper long reading session...the rain is pouring down so a perfect day for reading :)
Have you started it yet? I will also check out the book discussion on my kindle - never looked at that before.

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition Hi Kate!
I just received the book yesterday and would start reading tonight, but the 1st episode of the 4th season of "Downton Abbey" is starting in 1/2 hour! I can hardly wait!!
Do you follow this tv show? They have the best actors and the costumes and sets are just breath taking!

well...I finished last night.
I did find this book hard at the start...I think the introducing of the 3 main characters and then all those connected to them made it hard to follow, but then about half way through I started to see how everything was coming together and then the build up to the climax...and what a brilliant ending!
Really enjoyed it :)

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition Glad to hear that it came together at the end - I just started it yesterday and it seems so disjointed. I wanted to know the letter said, not be introduced to new characters for no apparent reason.

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition So, Cecelia is the daughter of a woman who shares a job with Rachel and they both live in Sydney. Tess lives in Melbourne and her awful cousin Felicity is the daughter of another friend of Rachel's, who moved from Sydney to Melbourne, right?

i was exactly like this Terry!! Confused at the start but stick with it because it all comes together brilliantly!
Don't want to give too m,uch away but they are all completely seperate families at the start :
- Cecelia and her Husband John Paul have 3 daughters and live in Sydney - John Paul has written the letter to Cecellia.

Tess lives in Melbourne with her Husband Will and they run a business with her cousin Felicity.

and then there is Rachel who works in the school office in Sydney.

i hope you can stick with it because i really enjoyed it in the end - and just so you know she opens the letter about half way through!! :)

although having read again what you wrote.....yes, Cecelias mum does share a job with Rachel in the school office and yes, Tess 's Mum i friends with Rachael :)

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition Ok, I am about 2/3 into the book and have decided that Liane Moriarty is my new favorite Chick Lit author. Maeve Binchy has been my favorite for years - she is the one author, besides Jane Austen, that I have read everything they have written and try to keep the hardback versions of their books.
Anyway, I think Liane Moriarty is the new Maeve Binchy.

Maeve Binchy books always have a million characters too! i see the similarity :) hope you are enjoying husbands secret now !

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition I just finished this book last night and I loved it!
I thought I posted something on here but I guess not....hmm

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition So, would you have opened the letter right away, waited and agonized over it a while, or not read it because your husband said not to?
I would have totally done the same thing as Cecelia - looked at it unbelievably for a while, shove it away while I deal with some more "urgent" issues, then compulsively think about it night and day until I blurt it out to my husband, trying to sound casual about it. I know I could never look at him the same way again, just like her, after she did sneak off and read it, even though, tragically, (spoiler alert) he technically did not cause that girl's death.

Terry ~ Huntress of Erudition I believe that the characters in this book were basically good, moral people who all committed one inexcusable act, then suffered and grew from it.
I was reading some info on this book and found a good question:
Does one evil act define us for the rest of our lives?
