It was like a dose works only for a certain period of time almost. It works after she is alive too you just have to take another dose for it to work again.
Or more like it stopped working when she was born but if he takes it again it will work again. That specific dose that he took before Gwen was born was the only one affected. It was the only one the prophecy was talking about. :)
No! The philosophers stone could make any one immortal. But like gwenyths count saint Germaine was born immortal and the prophecy says that when the ruby is born he will start to die off because now there is another immortal. The philosophers stone is for anybody to be immortal forever and that's how Gideon drank it and both of them became immortal forever. The only thing we don't know is that since there were two chronographs that means that another person that travels can get Lucy and Paul's blood close the second chronograph and also be immortal. This is so confusing but I am correct. This is why Kerstein Geir should have made a whole series with like four , five or even six books. I know I would read them.
@Sahiba: You're right, there are two chronographs, but this is where the part you get confused about begins:The first Philosopher's Stone was given by Gideon to the Count in order to ATTAIN immortality, that's why he was so obsessed in completing the blood circle in the first place (He wasn't born immortal, only Gwen was, it's mentioned on multiple occasions. It wouldn't make sense for him to put that much effort in getting the stone if he was immortal already, he could have just slaughtered her off as soon as she was born otherwise).
The second Philosopher's Stone (the one the Count didn't know about) was used on Gideon.
It is clearly mentioned, that the Philosopher stones work only when Gwen isn't alive (Thus the Count starts withering/aging as soon as she's born, and this is also the reason why he wants her dead in the first place: to start being immortal again.)
@Sara: This actually makes sense, you might be onto something there. Guess I'll have to ask Kerstin Gier about it, otherwise we'll never know :P
Thanks :)

If the philosopher's stone worked only while Gwen wasn't alive(before/after her timeline), how could it work on Gideon while she was still kicking, standing right beside him?
Hope someone can clarify this for me.
Thanks :)
