The discussion folders have changed again, even after that group message I just sent. I've realized that the current folder names can sound confusing to new members or to members who have not visited us in a while. To help alleviate the confusion, I have condensed the discussion folders to three: General Discussions, Webcomic Update Discussions, and Webcomic Discussions. The Individual Webcomic Discussions folder is now called the Webcomic Discussions folder and contains all of the discussions about specific webcomics. The topics in the previous General Webcomic Discussions folder are now in the General Discussions folder. That means that topics that pertain to webcomics, but are not about any one in particular go in this folder now. Hopefully these changes streamline the group home page and make it easier for everyone to figure out where on Earth to post stuff. Further descriptions on what can go in each folder is in the "About This Folder" topic at the top of each folder.
There ended up being a tie between Looking For Group and Boxer Hockey, so we're just going to read both this month. There were only three on the poll this month anyway.
Hello! Are you a fan of Webtoon, a Korean webcomic? And are you 18 years or older? If you are, we want to talk with you! We are a research team at the University of Missouri School of Information Science and Learning Technologies, and we invite you to join our survey! This research project is to understand the motivations for reading Webtoon and what facets of Webtoon appeal to readers. In the survey (link below), you will be asked to answer what you like about Webtoon, your motivations for reading Webtoon, how you find Webtoon to read, and if there are any informal learning incidents that you experienced. For your time and effort, 20 participants will be randomly selected (who also share their name and email address for this purpose) and will receive a $20 Amazon gift card after the survey is complete. The personal information that you provide for the raffle participation will be kept confidential, and only the research team will have access. Participation in this survey is voluntary, and you can leave the survey at any time! To participate in the following survey, you must be 18 years of age or older. You can ask the researcher to provide you with a copy of this consent for your records, or you can save a copy of this consent. We appreciate your consideration of participating in this study.
If you have questions about your rights as a research participant, please contact the University of Missouri Institutional Review Board (IRB) at 573-882-3181 or muresearchirb@missouri.edu. The IRB is a group of people who review research studies to make sure the rights and welfare of participants are protected. If you want to talk privately about any concerns or issues related to your participation, you may contact the Research Participant Advocacy at 888-280-5002 (a free call) or email muresearchrpa@missouri.edu.
Thank you for your interest, and if you have any questions about this study, please feel free to contact Dr. Hyerim Cho (hyerimcho@missouri.edu).
If you have read/understood this consent statement above and would like to participate in the survey, please click here: Link to Webtoon Survey: https://missouri.qualtrics.com/jfe/fo...
The survey link will be live for 2 weeks and be automatically closed after this time period.
