Alyson (asineth) | 5 comments Which episode do you think was most successfully adapted to the small screen. This doesn't have to be your favorite episode, or your favorite episode based on a book, or even the one that kept it closest to the book. Just which you think was translated best from print to screen. :)

Just off the top of my head, I think I am going with the Perjured Parrot. I thought the screenwriters brought the right amount of plot points in from the book, staying true to the story while still being able to give enough time and attention to each piece used. I also thought the parts that they changed were well chosen, and allowed the episode to flow smoothly while still staying true to the vibe of the book. And finally, Raymond Burr correcting the criminalistics at every turn was great :)

The Case of the Crooked Candle sticks out in my mind as being a pretty good adaptation. I've been reading the books in order, and after I finish a book, I watch the associated episode (well, until recently. I've gotten to the point that the stories weren't being made into episodes).

Yes! That was a really good one, too!

For the flip side, I'd say the Case of the Screaming Woman or the Fiery Fingers was the least-well adapted :)

I'd agree with you on those, Alyson. Those were strangely weak adaptations.

Huma | 3 comments I guess I'm too young for this thread. I watched one episode recently, Perry Mason and The Case the Restless Redhead. I guess it was the first episode of the original series. I actually quite liked the adaptation and would love to see more of this series.
