Kairan walked down the sidewalk, not looking up from the well worn book held in his hands. He weaved in and out of the crowd, used to the sidewalk hustle and bustle and not hitting anyone, though just brushing against some. He flashed his eyes up for a brief moment to check to see if the light had changed at the crosswalk. He stopped suddenly, waiting for the light to change.
((Setting: Library. My characters are cats.))
Historia scrambled up the dark wood bookshelf. Her brother jumped after her. "Don't you dare go nosing in the Latin manuscripts again." Historia nodded, ignoring him, and went on to open a novel called "Iter Regum." Journey of the Kings.
Tempus shrugged and snuck a look at a graphic novel. "Why am I living in this library," he muttered.
Regius laughed at his brother's obvious discontentment in his home. The library was Regius's kingdom, and he ruled. He smiled and went on on his regular walk around the library.
"In diebus antiquis, rex Mithron pagos rexit Alderea."
Historia read. The words meant,"In the ancient days, the king Mithron ruled the villages of Alderea." She went on. The story recounted a fictional legend of a knight that saved a kingdom from a cruel lord. Interesting, but history was her thing.

Tired of waiting for the light to change (a rare thing in NYC), Kairan wiggled his way over to the light. He brushed his fingers along the button and, sending a minimal electric shock up the wires, the lights quickly changed. The crowd around him murmured words like "finally" and "took long enough". He smiled quietly to himself (his little secret always made him feel special) and continued reading his book, happily walking down the street to his second home- the Central Library.
As soon as Greta landed in a back alley in New York, she realized that she had made the wrong decision in not asking Sam to come with her. She had no idea where she was, and hopeless with directions. Crossing her fingers that she wouldn't get mugged and that she'd find some place to orient herself, she dusted off her clothes and started walking.
((No worries, I shall continue on!))
He turned down the streets, and glanced up happily staring up at the huge massive library. He jogged up the steps and walked in through the door. He passed the head librarian and gave her a little wave. He walked around the shelves, running his fingers along the binding of the books and grinned. There was nothing better that Kairan loved than spending an afternoon in the library. He picked a ladder and climbed up, swinging his legs around and sat down at the top, reopening his book and continuing from where he left off.
((Animals can talk tothe magic people in this, the mod said.))
Tempus saw the light change with a spark, and realized it was a person from the Parallel Universe. Hurriedly he dashed out the door. "You from the Parallel Universe? As to say, are you magic?"

Tempus knew the human couldn't hear him unless he was magic.
((I'm sorry, are you talking to me?))
((Just making sure!))
Kairan practically jumped out of his skin! A cat appeared next to him and, who knows how, starting talking to him! He dropped his book, it hitting the floor with a solid thud.
"Um," he said back, just staring at the cat. "Um, er, yeah. H-hi." He felt sweat start to dampen the back of his neck. It had been son long since he talked to anyone about the Parallel Universe. He was born there, but had never actually been. His mother and father raised him in NYC, just as a normal human. He often forgot he wasn't actually from this world- so a talking cat was beyond strange to him.

Tempus almost wanted to laugh at his reaction, but he knew it would be rude. He shook out his brown fur and said," Haven't seen anyone from the Paralell Universe in a while, have you?"
"Um, not ever actually," he said, still not believing he was talking to a cat. "I mean, I never… told anyone. How did you know-?" He said, climbing down the ladder to fetch his book, making sure that the pages weren't bent.
"Well, duh," he replied,"Animals can be born there too, you know. What else would a talking cat be?"
"Well, I'd assume you were born there," Kairan flushed. he dropped his voice down a pitch. "But how did you know I was from there?" He knew it was a little dangerous to be talking about this so lightly- with a cat- in the middle of a public library- on a weekday. His parents said to never talk about it outside the home, let alone with anyone outside the family.
Tempus lowered his voice, realizing the danger if someone heard. "I saw you change the lights. It would look normal to a normal person, but I could see the sparks."
He looked down, a little ashamed of himself. Ah- why couldn't he have been more patient?
"Oh," he said back. He brushed it, pretending it didn't freak him out. "But what are you doing here- in a library in New York? It is only you?" he asked, looking around.
"Oh," he said back. He brushed it, pretending it didn't freak him out. "But what are you doing here- in a library in New York? It is only you?" he asked, looking around.
"Nope. I have my sister, Historia, who's an extreme fan of Latin manuscripts, and my brother, Regius, who acts like royalty. We just live in a library. Our mother, she lived there most of the time."
"There are three of you?" he said, surprised. Well, this was certainly a shock. Not only was there a talking cat from Kai's "home planet" living in the NYC library, but there was three! "Wait- your mother lives on Terca Lumireis? Don't you miss her?"
"Yes, and my father too. Some of us," he stole a look at his sister happily reading a french novel,"like it, but I don't. I've talked to a few of the- whatever you call us-es. The few that are animals are usually strays or alley cats, but we're lucky to live comfortably among the human world. We hope to get a companion eventually, but we couldn't stand to be seperated. We're all we have. Other than food and sleep and a home."
Kairan sat on the floor next to the cat and nodded. "That must really stink sometimes," he said. he leaned back on his hands. "I've always wanted to go to Terca Lumireis. But Earth is my first home. I don't know, I'd think it'd be weird to go back after all this time. Especially what happened, what with the war and all. But it's still nice to dream of."
"Yeah. But it's a boring life, surrounded by," he faked a shudder,"Books. My sis loves them, but I can't stand them. So there's pretty much nothing to do."
"Aw, there's nothing wrong with books," Kairan said. "I love them. Your sister's got the right idea. You've got every sort of adventure you could every want right at your fingertips- pardon the expression." he said with an afterthought.
"Well, I sneak a look at a graphic novel once and a whilrme, but instead of being boring, they're stupid. So I guess I'm destinied to spend my days annoying my sister. Besides, I don't think you could read a Latin fantasy."
Historia saw Tempus talking to a human. "What are you doing out there. Tempus ignored her.
Kairan shrugged bashfully. He read a ton as a child- he started reading Latin books when he was 13.
"There must be something you like to do for fun, besides bugging your sister, Mr. Cat?" Kairan asked.
"There must be something you like to do for fun, besides bugging your sister, Mr. Cat?" Kairan asked.
"Hmmmmm....I like...........annoying my brother!" He snickered as his sister called him again.
Kairan rolled his eyes.
"A+ family bothering eh?" he laughed, watching the sister cat yelling at him.
"A+ family bothering eh?" he laughed, watching the sister cat yelling at him.
"I'd better go see what she wants. Bye, for now."
Kairan waved as the cat trotted away into the library. He couldn't believe how his day had started. Kairan glanced at his watch. And it wasn't even noon yet. He almost laughed in spite of himself and then, picking up his book and tucking it into his back pocket, headed out of the library and starting making his way towards NYC Central Park.
"What is it," he muttered.
"What were you doing talking to a human?" Historia exploded. "He's one of us." "Oh."
"What were you doing talking to a human?" Historia exploded. "He's one of us." "Oh."
Tempus snuck away and watched a girl walking down the street from behind a trash can. She was acting strange.
"Afraid of a cat?" He muttered and lashed his tail.
Jacob walked into the rpoom to see the figures dissapear. He had not been fast enough.. He sees the portal slowly fading. He still has a chance, he closes his eyes and steps inside.
(( I am mind numbingly bored))
(( yes no one is on anywhere and it isn't bright enough to read and I am not at all tired ugh so bored))
A portal opened and Mira fell out. God, it opened in the sky of all places! Now she was shooting through the air and heading for the ground.
((Sorry, but I think I'm going to use Ami's younger sister, Mira instead))Mira was surprised. She didn't hit the hard ground like she expected. She open her eyes slowly and screams.
"sorry" he said letting her go "but you did fly in to me at high speeds, all i was doing was making sure you didn't hurt yourself or someone else"
