I found four books on my TBR pile! Yay me!1. The Black Arrow by Robert Louis Stevenson
2. Captain of the Pole Star & Other Stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
3. Colonel Sandhurst to the Rescue by Marion Chesney
4. Sir Philip's Folly by Marion Chesney

Had to tease. You're gracing one of my challenges at the highest level - and didn't blink! You passed level 100 in your group before December. You're a legend, my lady! Marion is on my list too. Hugs, Carolyn. http://cmriedel.wordpress.com/2013/11...
:-) The challenge I'm doing with you is mysteries. I have more mysteries sitting around here than I really need (shhhh, I didn't say that). I can totally do a high level with those.
Moi aussi. It's due to these dear groups that I read beyond. I got a pleasant surprise in my group "Gentle Spectrums". Angie from 'Angels Are Furkids' did likewise: up and joined part B, with complete abandon! She didn't see what books she had first. An uncanny coincidence: this year's "What's In A Name" has two topics similar to my "Gentle Subjects"! Makes it easy for me to re-join. I'm going to be more bold with a few new groups myself. If my guests don't worry about settling titles in advance, neither will I.
First book done! And it wasn't on my original list...maybe I'll make a higher level after all.1. The Poison Belt by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Well, I didn't do it on purpose, but when Goodreads gave me the list of what I read this year, it had 36 books or so and I think 33 of them were either by Uk authors or took place in the UK. So this year I just have to make sure they are not just UK, but Scottish in particular! :)

I got off-track on the Scottish authors (actually, I tried one from the library and just couldn't get into it). Am all set to startDandy Gilver & the Proper Treatment of Bloodstains by Catriona McPherson
I've done sweet tweet for Scottish settings but it's the start of the year. Heavy competitors like us need to strategize. January was "clear up with I think I might like least". February was "try out horror and edge back into paranormal'. As of my present book, which *is* ethereal anyway, I'm treating myself to "read what you love best for a while".Next, it's either going to be "do some old stuff for Bev's 'Vintage'" and then "get ready for a couple of chunksters"! :) With 44+ reading themes, I envision your mind grouping your choices similarly.

Other than a library book (also for challenges--surprise, surprise! ;-) ) and one ARC due for a virtual book tour towards the end of the month, I really don't have any plans. With 40 challenges to choose from I can afford a little whimsy in my reading choices.
Yes indeed. I bear categories in mind but either way, it is all about choosing what I shall pick up next, from my collection. To be frank, I'm shaking my head at the frequency with which I declare: "I want to read this and I want to read THIS"... with the realization that I'm enchanted by so many by our bedside alone, it might not occur this year. But it's a blessing that I have gathered so many at a discount or as a gift. :)
Have finished my second book:Dandy Gilver & the Proper Treatment of Bloodstains by Catriona McPherson

This was my first Dandy Gilver book and I did enjoy it!
Third book: The Day They Kidnapped Queen Victoria by H. K. Fleming [hijacking of the Queen's train in Scotland]
Fourth book (and challenge commitment completed!): Two for Sorrow by Nicola Upson [featuring Scottish author Josephine Tey]

There may be more coming...we'll have to see how the rest of the year goes.
