Tiffany (tiffanyyy_wang) We need to remember the environment.

A. (acharc) YES! We really do!!! I went to a beautiful beach the other day and there was a party going on. I saw rubbish ALL OVER the place! Chip packages stuck in the bushes, broken beer bottles, paper plates, plastic cups and forks etc. It was sad! Also old trash from parties held there priviously. There was even an old white tarp stuck deep in the sand for who knows how long.

korrinamoe Yes! I went to a black sand beach, and there was so much trash in the sand and water. It was awful! We definitely need to care for the environment!

~♥Alyssa♥~ (lyssie123) | 38 comments It's awful just to drive into town, because there's so much garbage on the side of the road. And at night, you can hardly see the stars for the glow of the cities. It's actually called light pollution, and people don't know much about it, but it's so easily fixed! I did a 5-page paper about it in English, and it was a bit depressing to research. Search Google Images for 'Earth at night' or 'World at night.' We've lit up like the whole planet!

These are taken from space, I think.
(Wow, that was kind of a random outburst from me. Oh well. It is kind of connected to the environment.)

Those pictures, as cool as they look...they scare me. I knew we were into technology, but...if they can see that from space...

~♥Alyssa♥~ (lyssie123) | 38 comments More than that, it disrupts the life cycles of all types of animals - even humans. It disorients birds and makes them 'crash' - I think the record is that several thousand birds during two consecutive nights followed a lit-up air plane landing strip straight into the ground and they all died. Frogs mate earlier so the babies die, lizards don't go out at night because it's too bright and they starve, birds migrate too early, and baby sea turtles think that light from cities near beaches is moonlight off the sea. They follow the lights, thinking that they're going to the ocean, and they end up in a city, where, needless to say, they don't live long.

~♥Alyssa♥~ (lyssie123) | 38 comments I always thought that those pictures looked cool too, because they were pretty. Then I researched for that paper, and it's scary. Not as bad as some world issues, but bad enough.

Yes we really do! I always pick up a little bit of rubbish everytime I go to the beach. Or if Im waliking somewhere, like a parking lot for example, and a plastic bag blows by, I pick it up and throw it away. I cant stand leaving rubbish just laying there unless its a ridiculous amount that'd take me forever to pick up.

message 13: by korrinamoe (new)

Kasacasa | 4 comments We have too much plastic being wasted. I read someplace that women weave plastic bags and this keeps them out of our dumps. Has anyone heard about this?

message 17: by A. (new)

A. (acharc) No I havent. They weave it for what?

Kasacasa | 4 comments Rugs. Check out this link. http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf517076.ti...

I read somewhere that in order to make money, plastic bags are being recycled this way. But I don't know what country.

message 19: by Kasacasa (new)

Kasacasa | 4 comments maybe a massive weaving of plastic bags would make a statement to people about our waste and pollution to the environment.

message 20: by Emily (new)

Emily Im veg so thats my way of being good for the environment.

Kasacasa | 4 comments There is an artist - a photographer - that takes pics of things such as batteries, prison uniforms, plastic bottles. He took a picture of 2 million bottles and said that his work is not only art but to stimulate thought. He said that every 5 minutes in the world, we toss 2 million plastic bottles away. That blew me away. It's thought provoking. We bought non-plastic bottles to carry our water. Not only does it save us money, but it's another contribution to help the environment. We bought our bottles from our local grocery store. AFTER doing some research and after all of the recalls, and programs on the massive pollution we decided not to buy bottles from China. The website is www.sigg.com
Oh, The artist's name is Christopher Jordan. If you go to google and type in his name - "Christopher Jordan, photographer" you can scroll through some of his stuff. I saw him on our PBS station.
