Constant Reader has a special rate for the Hotel Lucia on September 18 and 19, 2009.

Our rates per night are (single or double occupancy):

Queen deluxe $139, Premium King $149, Deluxe double double $159, Superior King $189.

Suites are available at regular hotel rates. Reservations can be made starting June 21.

•The “cut-off date” for accepting reservations into this room block is August 21, 2009. Reservations requests received after 5:00 p.m. local time at the Hotel on the cut-off date will be accepted on a space and rate availability basis.

• Reservations can be made through our dedicated property reservations team at: Local 503-225-1717 or Toll Free 877-225-1717. Please advise your guests to ask for the Constant Reader block to ensure they get your specially discounted room rate. Guaranteed reservations must be cancelled by 24 hours prior to arrival to avoid No Show/Same Day Cancel charges of one night’s room and tax.

• Current local occupancy tax is 12.5%.

• The current overnight valet parking fee is $30 per day with in/out privileges.

• Check-in: 4:00pm Check-out: 12:00pm

• Specific room numbers and/or floor requests cannot be guaranteed until time of arrival.

• Deliveries: All items to be delivered must be received by the Hotel at least one day prior to your first guest’s arrival date. Each item/bag MUST include the first and last name of each guest reservation. A fee of $3.00 per item (i.e. gift baskets, bags, etc.) will be applied. The delivery fee will then be applied to your guestroom bill or payment may be made at the Front Desk. (Group Representative Initials:__________)

Cancellations can be made up to 24 hours in advance without penalty.

I just made my reservation at the hotel. According to the young lady who took my reservation, the rates are guaranteed for the nights of the 17th and 18th but not the 19th. When I told her that I was checking in on the 17th and leaving the 20th, she had to get permission to give me the special rate for Saturday night. She said that I should contact you and let you know that the rate needs to be extended.

I will check on extending the rate. I doubt that there will be any problem with occupancy rates what they are these days.

Hotel Lucia has extend special rates from September 15 through September 21 for those registering as part of the group.

Today is the last day to get room rate. We have 4 rooms and seven people so far. Hopefully a few more are planning to attend. Ask for Olivia Olson if you read this a few days late and see what you can negotiate. My guess is that you can work something out with any kind of semi-plausible excuse since business is still not that brisk.

I had hoped that I would make it, thinking I would still be working in North Idaho then. As it turns out, I will be in Texas. I had really been hoping to meet some of you in person. I love Portland and it would have been fun to experience it with a group like this one. Dang.

gail singer gross is coming, but she is staying in a hostel that is near our hotel. I told her I would let her know where we are eating on Thursday so that she can meet us.
