Believe in your work more than anyone else!

Ali Marsman I think it is important to give at least 1 copy of your book away per week/month. Goodreads is great with their giveaway contest, and of course you can list your own. It can get costly, but it is worth it!

I agree! Difficult sometimes for those of us with self-esteem issues, but essential.

You're probably right. If the copies you give away are e-books, the cost should be considerably less, however.

Hey guys, they do not allow you to give away eBooks. I checked. That would be ideal let me tell you. Shipping cost...arrrgg. Too poor.

You don't have to use goodreads to do your giveaway. Post to your blog that you are having a drawing and the winner will receive an ebook copy of your book. All they have to do is comment or email or however you want to do it. You could also post in various groups here on goodreads but make sure you post in the correct folders and such. Some moderators can be very picky about those kind of posts.

Good idea. I like your plan better. Less drama!

I do a monthly giveaway for registered members to my site. It is a bit of a cost, but I feel it's worth it. It attracts members and gives people the chance to read my work, hopefully creating loyal followers.

I'm watching you and action and taking notes. Maddy is on a tight teacher budget so I have to think through my strategy. Right now distributing eBooks is working well for me.

There is nothing that turns readers off more than a pushy author :]

Yes, I plan on doing this. I think for the 10th of 5th reader,or so. You want to make enough money so you can give it away. I was surprised at how much my publisher listed my book for, I always thought it would be a 7 dollar book.

Great point, Dee! So true. There was an author here on goodreads once who was so pushy that he got banned from all groups and then they took away his goodreads author status.

I agree, and I remember the author (of sorts) the excessive self-promotion made me cringe. By the way my book titled......(just kidding)
