What did you think of it?

Urooj | 18 comments Angelfall rekindled my interest in the whole angel-demon concept at a time when i had pretty much given up on these kind of books and World After made sure that i would remain hooked to this series no matter what.
Penryn as a heroine evolves so much;Facing her schizophrenic, paranoid mother, the horrific changes in her sister Paige, dealing with the Resistance and then of-course her relationship with Raffe. This book showed humanity (and the angelic garrison) at its basest and at its best. An intense, thoroughly captivating read. Im glad to say World After didnt succumb to the Middle Book Syndrome :)

SM I know this is a middle book so I will try not to judge it too harshly but I didn't like this nearly as much as Angelfall. I don't feel like much happened in the first two thirds of the book. Ms. Ee set up lots of situations to be action packed but then they weren't. The escapes were too easy. The last third of the book however was much more of what I expected from World After.

I also wanted more Raffe. I love Raffe and Penryn together but they didn't find each other until the last third of the book (I know, typical middle book plot line). I love their banter and teasing.

I still love the series but this book was a little disappointing. I am looking forward to an exciting conclusion (assuming this is a trilogy and not longer?)!

yeah.. i agree with you there.. the story was a little slow-going. I wanted more Raffe. Raffe!

but i loved Penryn's mother more. :D

Mags I finished the book a couple of days ago ... and ... I have a theory ... (view spoiler)

TRL Boyd (trlboyd) | 7 comments I loved this book but i agree with Sam and Rosal. It felt like an in-between book that moved slowly although it clarified a lot for angel fall. Loved them both regardless.

Toni (thewordshaker) Loved it! Maybe it was a little slow in the begining but I think it was just me missing Raffe. God,when does the third book come out?

Booksessed | 2 comments I enjoyed WA overall. I think Susan Ee is choosing a risky writing strategy with this story. She's straddling that dangerous line of anticipation with Penryn and Raffe. (view spoiler)

I know what you mean-after every book I have at least a little knowledge about what will come next. This time I don't.

Booksessed | 2 comments Do you think Susan Ee is strictly sticking with all the angel lore from bible history? Or do you think she is just borrowing some aspects but ultimately, there are no rules for this world she has created.

I guess one way to figure it out would be to do a little angel history research. :::eyebrow wiggle:::

Anna | 144 comments I bought this immediately after finishing Angelfall and while it was good, it wasn't as powerful for me as #1, and certainly more predictable. It did feel like a 'catch up' novel, almost as if Susan Ee needed to back track firmly into the YA genre with a bigger focus on the romance to hook more readers. I liked the gaps in book 1, not knowing what Raffe and the mum were doing/thinking added to the tension, so to me the flash back scenes were a disappointment narratively, giving too much away.
Having said that I did like the sentient nature of the sword, especially in the showdown scene.

Megan (megandurrence) | 9 comments I've read a lot of great theories and it makes me happy to see they're all in my line of thinking as well, so we must be onto something!!

(view spoiler)

I need to reread this series! Not that it would be a hardship :P

Monica Sanchez (ro9ue) | 1 comments I LOVED THIS BOOK!!! I read the first one shortly before the second book came out so when it did I eagerly picked it up. I enjoyed reading it and while Raffe was missed I felt that Ee did a good job. I'm so excited for the next book!

Ricky (spider-fan) Why can't book 3 come out this year? That's what I wanna know...

Ricky (spider-fan) @Megan: That makes a creepy amount of sense. I'm buying that WMG into my headcanon.
