Penryn as a heroine evolves so much;Facing her schizophrenic, paranoid mother, the horrific changes in her sister Paige, dealing with the Resistance and then of-course her relationship with Raffe. This book showed humanity (and the angelic garrison) at its basest and at its best. An intense, thoroughly captivating read. Im glad to say World After didnt succumb to the Middle Book Syndrome :)

I also wanted more Raffe. I love Raffe and Penryn together but they didn't find each other until the last third of the book (I know, typical middle book plot line). I love their banter and teasing.
I still love the series but this book was a little disappointing. I am looking forward to an exciting conclusion (assuming this is a trilogy and not longer?)!

yeah.. i agree with you there.. the story was a little slow-going. I wanted more Raffe. Raffe!
but i loved Penryn's mother more. :D

I guess one way to figure it out would be to do a little angel history research. :::eyebrow wiggle:::

Having said that I did like the sentient nature of the sword, especially in the showdown scene.

I need to reread this series! Not that it would be a hardship :P
