I loved this book. I read it because the movie was so powerful, and I wanted to experience it first-hand. The feel of it is similar to the movie, but there are a lot of elements that are different. Though I still love the movie, I think I actually liked the book more!
I just love that the author really lets you inside Pat's mind to show how he struggles in everyday life with what he's been suffering from. He's such a flawed character, but he doesn't really think that he is, other than the realization that he thinks he needs to be a better person. Probably one of my favorite lines is "I'm practicing being kind rather than right".
Sooo... I didn't get to reading it in December, but I wanted to read this book so badly, that I decided better late than never.I love this book!
I loved seeing the family dynamics that were not in the movie. How it seemed that everyone in the book has their own kind of crazy going on (which, let's face it, we all do).
I love the progress theme in the book and how even Pat encouraged progress in the other characters in very subtle ways.
