Melissa (melissapurls) | 38 comments I just finished The Bookman's Tale by Charlie Lovett. I loved it! If you like Shakespeare or antique books you'll like it.

It's the story about an American antique book dealer living in England in the 1990's. He's a very introverted man, devastated by the recent death of his wife. When he opens an old book and finds a 100-year old painting of a woman who looks exactly like his wife, he's sent on a hunt to find out who she is. Along the way he traces the history of a book that William Shakespeare himself used as the source for his play "A Winter Tale"...unless, of course, the book is a forgery...

It reminds me a lot of Geraldine Brooks' People of the Book as it follows the story of an old book passing from hand to hand over centuries of time.

I just finished Takedown Twenty, the latest by Janet Evanovich in the Stephanie Plum series. Fast read, like her others- fun but easily forgotten when finished. I am currently reading the Gods of Guilt by Michael Connelly, the 5th in his Mickey Haller series. It is very good- I'm beginning to like mysteries more and more..anyone have suggestions for good authors I can try? I've heard Harlan Coben is good..

Kristen, I LOVE Harlen Coben's Tell No One. It's a great thriller. I like mysteries very well, but almost always either classic Golden Age mysteries, like Agatha Christie, or modern ones with historical settings. I just got done reading A Woman Of Consequence by Anna Dean--this is part of a series set in Regency England. It's a little embarrassing--kind of an old lady book :) but very good cozy reading.

I need to put "Tell No One" on my "to-read" so I don't forget it. Got my Christmas book so I'm reading that now- the latest in the Fool's Gold series.
