[Reaping] Blaine walked through the crowed with her younger sister Ione. They held hands, walking confidently through the crowd. They got to the stands, and they ladies pricked their fingers. The tiniest drop of blood can from Blaine's finger, but it was just enough. The lady scanned Blaine's blood.

"Alright," the lady said. "You can go."

Blaine nodded and moved on. She made her way over to the girls in her age group. She wondered if they were scared, like Ione, or brave, like herself. Blaine shrugged it off, looking around for the lady that was reaping them. Blaine had forgotten what the were called. Blaine jolted up, startled when a woman with extraordinary hair and appearance stepped onto the stage and tapped her finger onto the microphone.

"Welcome, welcome!" The lady said. "The reaping for this year's Hunger Games! Ah, I see new faces! Okay, here we go! Happy Hunger Games, and may the odds be ever in your favor! As usual, ladies first." The lady said.

Blaine watched the other girls around her tremble, in fear, she assumed. Her eyes focused on the lady, who had made her way to a glass bowl full of paper cards with the names of the girls in them. She stuck her hand in slowly, making Blaine stands on her toes. If she was sitting down in a chair, she would have already fallen out of her seat. The lady did take about thirty-five seconds to pick a single piece of paper. The lady walked back to the microphone, and opened the piece of paper. The lady cleared her throat as her eyes lit up in delight. Blaine didn't know why the lady's eyes did that. She didn't know who she picked.

"Blaine Conway!" The lady said, smiling. She looked around for the tribute.

Blaine stepped up with confidence, looking at Ione, who had a horrified look on her face. As Blaine walked, she winked to Ione, made a sign with her right hand, and smiled. Blaine wasn't frightened the least bit. The peacekeepers walked her to the stage, where she stepped up smiling. She didn't want to look weak. The lady smiled.

"And now, for the boys." The lady said, smiling.

~~~~~~~~~~Mini Time Skip~~~~~~~~~~
Blaine waited in a room, wanting badly for her family to visit. She heard someone say something about three minutes. Then, the doorknob shuffled a bit, finally turned, and the door opened. Blaine spun around to see her mother, father, and Ione standing there. She ran up to them all, hugging them happily. She pulled away, a smile on her face. As soon as she did so, Blaine's father handed, Ione something, and Ione handed it to Blaine. Blaine immediately wrapped it in her hands. She put the pin inside of her bun. She knew it wouldn't get suck because her hair was never tangled, and nothing other than nature ever got caught in it. The golden pin was not as bright and shiny as it used to be. It was a letter C, for Conway. It was golden, and had little tiny rhinestones put along in a row on the side of the C. If you put it on under your jacket, not even the eagle's eyes would see it. It was as if it wasn't there, but it was, in fact, the whole time. She hugged her family once more. Blaine told them that she would try to win for them. She would fight her hardest and have grit until her end, if she was to have an end. People led her parents outside. Blaine sat on the couch and put her hands in her hair, trying to suppress the fact that she could die. The door opened up again, and Blaine's eyes sparkled to see who it was. It was her best friend Tate Beckett. She ran up and hugged him. Stunned, Tate hugged Blaine back. They pulled away and smiled at each other. Maybe Blaine had a small crush on Tate. So what? He was tall, handsome, muscular (but just the right amount, not too muscular), and worked well with weapons. Oh well. This had to end some day.
"How many times was your name in this time, Blaine?" Tate asked, sitting on the couch beside her.
"Just once. And you?" Blaine replied.
"Once as well. Blaine, we don't have much time, so I'm just going to say this. I wish you the best of luck, and I hope you find that will in you to stay alive and keep fighting. See you if you win." Tate said, ending it with a hug.
Blaine hugged back. The hugged the rest of their time, and soon Tate was taken away. Before Tate was taken, Blaine told him something.
"Whatever you do, Tate, don't let Ione worry or get hurt!" Blaine said, an 'I'm counting on you' look on her face.
"I will!" Tate yelled as he was being taken out.
Blaine sat back down on the couch and took the pin out of her hair. She started turning it in her fingers. While she was playing with it, she thought, 'So this is it. Let the Games being.'
Aiden walks with his best friend, Ryan Doyle, through the big crowd. They were a bit late, but didn't care. They laugh and talk above all of the rhythm. They didn't take this type of thing seriously. The lady at the stands pricked their hands as they had become accustomed to. They walked over together to their age group just as President Snow finishes announcing the girl tribute.
"And now, the gentlemen," President Snow says. The crowd once again quiets down and everyone perks their ears. "Ryan Doyle," President Snow announces. Ryan turns pale. Aiden's mind is a blur. No, it can't be, not his best friend. Ryan begins to walk towards the stands. "I volunteer!" Aiden shouts. He knows there is no way Ryan would survive. The crowd turns to stare at him. And his younger brother whimpers from his age group. He confidently walks up to the stands and takes his place on the other side of President Snow.
"Well, well," President Snow says. "A volunteer. Very rare." Aiden shrugs off the nervousness forming around him, and tries to look prepared and confident.
President Snow begins to make the ending of the reaping speech, but Aiden barely hears. He only catches the last line. "May the odds be in your favor."
