Clean,Non Religious-Reads discussion

For myself, it has to be earth-based.I just cannot relate to the others.
I especially enjoy military,medical or government based stories.

I prefer earth-based science fiction; because it is that with which I am most familiar and knowledgeable.
I possess only a vague understanding of things related to outer space from books and articles I've read.
I prefer to read books about things I can comprehend through personal experience.

]I'm trying to think of any sci-fi I've actually read. Not many as it doesn't interest me a whole lot. Well, as I'm thinking, a few titles come to mind. I did read the book of the original Star Wars movie. I can't remember if I liked it or not. Ha!

I also read Starship Troopers, which is off-world based and I really liked it - shocking for me.

Also, one called Undertow by Elizabeth Bear, which takes place on a swampy planet inhabited by amphibious humanoids, which is being exploited by a company. I liked it a lot and have read it a couple of times.

So, I guess to answer your question: yes.

I read Ender's Game but didn't particularly like it.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy? Liked it a lot, mainly because it's hilarious.

That doesn't really answer your question, I guess. I would say that it probably doesn't really matter to me if it's on world or not as long as there's a character or something there I can relate to. That might have been the problem with Ender's Game. No characters I could relate to?
