I need help. My niece is 13 and I know I still see her as a little girl. So I need suggestions for a book for her for Christmas. I don't want it to be too young but most YA seems a little steamy for her too. She is reading some werewolf books on her phone (not sure her mother knows) so I know she is into that a bit. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Pixie Rose (princesspixierose) Avalon High by Meg Cabot is a good teen book that isn't too steamy, with a bit of a mystical element. The most steamy moment I recall is that the main character knows that two other characters are in someone's bedroom. So it's not really steamy so much as alluding to steamy situations...

Eveline (emeijer) Seriously, if you like fiction, fantasy and history, go read the Tamir Triad. It's written by Lynn Flewelling and there are three seperate books. It's about a fictional world, but it gives the feel of medieval times. I seriously love those books, read them five times already and going to read them again.

Also, C.J. Samson's Shardlake is amazing too. Shardlake is one of his characters, who appears in several novels. Go check those out as well!

Just saw this. Haven't read the Utah one.

Rebecca (seekingoriginality) There's a series that was suppose to be a trilogy, the first one is Uglies and it's great for her age. I know it's past Christmas but it could be a conversation or suggestion to share.

I hated the Uglies series, but seems like I was the only one. I know her mom liked them. I lent my copies out to a former coworker and never got them back.

I ended up getting her a book about middle school and popularity. Probably a bit young for her, but she seemed to like it. She has actually started The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare so I really need to "get" that she is growing up. :)

Kimberly (kimberlywithat) | 2140 comments You're not the only one, Tami. I really did not care for the Uglies series.
