Hey, everybody :) I know this is really random (hence I put this in the random folder) but I'm applying for a college scholarship and I had to write a short essay about an activity that I've done that is important to me and for my future, so I was wondering if some of you could just read over it and make sure it sounds okay and there aren't any errors or anything? It would really help, I need to turn it in tomorrow. Thanks!!
Before I started my senior year, I wanted to pursue a career in the medical field and so my school counselor was able to set up an internship for me at the local hospital. I went to the hospital about two to three times a week and I got to experience many parts of the hospital including HIM and Coding, pharmacy, the laboratory, clinics, IT, and echocardiography. I didn’t perform many activities due to safety reasons, but from what I did have the opportunity to do and from what I saw, I really enjoyed it. I learned a lot about hospitals and the medical field in general, and I got to meet some really great people, while being there.
Though I did enjoy my time at the hospital, I decided that a career in the medical field just isn’t right for me. So I did some thinking and talked to my parents, and after discussing it, we decided that I should try to look into dental hygiene. I did some research on dental hygienists and thought that it sounded like a good option. It has good pay, good hours, and an amount of schooling that I feel would suit my lifestyle. I went back to my school counselor and told her about my interest in dental hygiene. So she contacted a dentist office in our area and now I go there every week to observe a dental hygienist work. From what I’ve seen, I think that a dental hygienist will be a good job for me and I’m glad that I’ve had the opportunity to do this internship and learn about a career that I’m interested in.
