You are living and breathing but you have something that makes you different from the other people around you.
I don't really feel like getting into meaningful thoughts mode. I'm in a kind of light, airy mood today. I don't want to be thinking deep stuff all day.
you are getting off track with all these "Me-You-Mine-Etc-Etc" talk, for I don't believe the "ego" is a viable proof of your existence To Me anyways.... So what is life? is it just the absence of death? or is it life a slowly decay into death? and what is death anyway? the abscence of life? only if you limit your definition of life to a physical level.
So back to your legit, deep, and interesting question(s), we ned to answer the first one "What is life" in order to get to the second one "what is to be alive." so, first thing first, let's define life, shall we? what is life, obviously is not the same for a human than for a plant or a rock right?
I'm going to VENTURE and say just for argument sake that life is the equivalent of existance. And I'm just giving this shallow definition in order to start digging
so what would you think and say if I tell you that everything exist in this life, but only become alive to you when you give them your attention/focus?
so, if all is based on your perceptions, and you perceive through your senses, and then that data is processed in your brain according to your individual capacity, then your reality is different than mine even if we are looking at the same reality. so, we are being deceived. I could feel alive, but I might just as well be dead person to someone that is looking at my picture 3,000 miles away from me
Okay, I thought I got it for a second, then lost it. It's like something I know what your talking about, but I can't put it into words...
Yeah, like we said yesterday. Although, it was kind of a simple explanation. You should like explain more about that theory.
well, a reptil moves voluntarily and we could agree that is alive, although is unable of having/feeling emotions, only mammals are capable of that. Now, a rock exist, but is only in my mind that I gave that rock its reality and/or meaning. It could be an insignificant rock to me, but is a warm cozy home to an insect. It could be a souless object to me, but a reincarnated soul to an extrenist budist. So, is reality and life something absolute or is it all relative depending on how you process the data?....Is reality an illusion?... we are being deceived by our own senses. Is like the green-house-effct, is a natural defense mechanism that now is working against us.
It protected us in the past, but we are now entering a new different era/environment in which the old defensive mechanism is killing us now.
Some dude who wanted to join.
And, as our group info says, we welcome all who want to share their opinions of the world, life, and stuff like that. So, public group it is.

ugh.. don't we have enough people in our other groups? (well, we DO, but I'm sure Annalise thinks that WE are not very smart compared to HER and the OTHER PEOPLE THAT WE DON'T EVEN KNOW..)
well, I am truly sorry to burst into your group. If you don't want any new members maybe you shouldnt advertise it. As far as me goes, I thought I had found a mature open mind group. I guess I was wrong. You won't hear from me anymore. My apologies once again. Have a nice "existence" in this complicated "life." Adios. Arrivederci!
No, you can stay. Ben and I agreed it's gonna be a public group. Plus you made me feel guilty...
To make you happy, I can also (finally) answer your question in a (very) boring way. I'm not going to get all deep and thoughtful about it, but whatever. Here's my 'Sofia, Queen of the Obvious' comment:
Pretty much being alive is when your alive. Like now. We're all alive. We breath, we talk, we move, we think. We aren't dead. Our body is still working, so we are alive.

New perspective just popped into my mind. Okay, so would about people who are like in permanent shock. Would you call people like that "alive" even though they do everything a living person does to live?
OH MY GOD! I DID NOT MEAN TO MAKE MARCO FEEL BAD!!! HE TOOK IT WAAAAAAAAAAY TOO PERSONALLY! I WAS NOT INSULTING HIM! OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!
well...
well...
Okay, since you haven't answered my question that I thought sounded quite intellegent for my brain level, though you guys are probably going like 'What? intellegent? What world are you from?' I'm gonna repeat it. And my spelling of intelligent really proves what a smart person I am... Anyway. My question:

i think that there is the same question about poeple on "life support" in a hospital.it depends if you think it is a brain or a heart that makes you alive.

well, the whole soul thing depends on wether or not you go by the bible. or if you go by a list, like to have life you must have a soul.
Or maybe to have life means you must be able to feel in some way? b/c ants can feel physically and poeple can feel mentally and so can everything that we consider "alive" inbetween has some sort of feeling?
i wonder if this is one of those questions without an answer? one that will go on and be debated for very long, then someone will have a theory (ex. life means you are a carbon being- what scientists say right now.) and another person with different beliefs will have a dfifferent one (ex. life means you were created by god- what many religious poeple say.)_and on and on. i think that we should find a theory that we all agree on then work off that and try to prove it with the best possibilitys that we have.

i guess yoiu could go by the abilitie to grow- even ameabas have that. the problem is tenically a rock could grow or a mountain can grow... what about having instincts? even an amebia has instincts!
Yeah- we arn't the only smart people out there. If they want to join, let them join! We can use TS(ROTU) for personal stuff!
It was a whole confusion thing. Anyway, it's public, so people can join and talk and stuff =D Let's hope it stays that way.
whAT ever ca we gt back on topic if you want a different topic start a new disscussion i like this one
