I'm just curious about something. Did Stephanie Meyer create the entire Young Adult Paranormal Romance genre when she created Twilight? Of course there were vampires way before Twilight, and many of them included romantic elements, but I don't believe most of them were written with young adults in mind.

If she didn't create the whole genre, she certainly popularized it way beyond anything that had come before. I'm just wondering if there are any Twilight type books that were actually published before Twilight.

I don't doubt it. I was just hoping to get some examples of this genre published before Twilight.

Vampire Academy by Richelle Meed, published in 2007. The House Of Night Series started in 2007 too. City Of Bones, to name a few. There are a plethora of books that are standalone and series that started before Twilight came out, you just have to look like I did.

I had no doubt there were stories like this before Twilight, but you have to admit Twilight certainly became the standard bearer for the genre.

She did. There are so many books about a vampire falling love with a human and so many paranormal books out there
