Sorry. I seem to be the one person on the planet who does not like to be scared...at all. No scary books, and definitely no scary movies!
With books my imagination runs away with me... with movies the music is usually what creeps me the [insert expletive here] out! Either way it means bad dreams or a sleepless night.

That's OK... Horror isn't for everyone. MrsJ doesn't do horror either, and I forgive her for it. ;)
Though, I do tend to be more affected by horror movies than books. And that's getting worse as I get older. I used to be able to watch anything at any time and I wouldn't be scared at all. Now, I'm a big wuss when it comes to horror movies. The visuals/audio get me in a way that my imagination doesn't. Still love it though. :D
I am incapable of being scared by fiction (something which I feel vaguely regretful about at Halloween, I feel like I'm missing out!), so I'll keep you company, Becks. ;)

My heart loves horror! I can't really do horror movies because I live alone and have an active imagination but I'm all over the books.
I watch horror movies, but never by myself. (The exception being the Shining mini-series, but it was during the day, so that made it better.)And I'm one of those people who, after a *good* horror movie, will turn all the lights on for awhile or, if going to bed, make sure all the closets are securely shut. ;)
Horror books don't generally scare me, though. I think it might be the medium just doesn't work as much... *shrugs*
I still like to read a good ghost story or suspense thriller now and again, though.
Horror films and TV don't get to me either. I'll happily sit and watch them alone in the dark at 3 AM (quite enjoy doing that when I can't sleep, actually). A lot of the things that are meant to be scary I find funny, and with the rest, I can appreciate the atmosphere but it doesn't produce any actual fearful or nervous response in me.
The only other person I know who is completely unaffected like this is my dad, so we watch a lot of horror things together. :p
One Halloween I did ask some of my friends to find me anything, film or book or TV, that they thought might be able to give me a legitimate scare, just to see if it can be done. No one succeeded. *sigh* I should widen the net...

Visually anything remotely scary freaks me out. I don't think I've ever been scared reading a book but I can't even watch Sleepy Hollow or American Horror Story at night.
Books just don't scare me either. But I'm always the one who jumps during scary scenes in movies. Or even not so scary scenes. Really. Its actually quite embarrassing.
I love watching horror with jumpy people... I get to live vicariously through them. LOL.
Weirdly, I'm totally jumpy in and about real life. I walked out of a room earlier and ran into my dad, and even though I knew damn well it was him, I screamed, so he screamed too. I've been scared to shit by my talking scales on at least one occasion. LOL. Some days I can't watch the news because all of the sad gets to me. But I can eat dinner while watching a fictional autopsy and giggle my way through someone getting a fictional axe to the head.
Yep. I jump when I turn a corner and someone I didn't expect is there. I'm like a cat that jumps off all fours when it gets spooked.

I'm actually quite proud of myself when it comes to scary books. I went from completely shying away from them to reading them at night. My big accomplishment this year was reading The Shining, which I said I would never read. I actually found myself reading it in the wee hours of the night...it was so good! Surprisingly, I had no nightmares. :)

Maybe we can make some recommendations to each other! I'm always on the lookout for a good scare or creepout! :)
I'm not usually a Horror type of reader myself, but I thoroughly enjoyed Night Film by Marisha Pessl. I think this one skirted the line a bit, but was super creepy.
Ooooo Emily. I'll have to read that. I've never heard of a book where one of the main characters has my last name. Cordova. How exciting! I actually have a cousin named Ashley Cordova. I'll need to let her know.
Exactly! When one is dead one must act as such. She is planning on attending our Christmas family function which is something that dead people should not take part in.
Well! It's in poor taste to show up at things when you are dead and expect a portion of the food. Poor taste!!
I'm not a horror fan but that said I like some horror reads and movies. It's just sort of story by story thing.

I'm right there with ya, Caleb! *Renfield laugh*
Hummm....let me see, evil laughs, evil laughs....nope can't find a listing of how many different ones there are. We may need to catalog all the different evil laughs so we can spot them.
