Amara Tanith (aftanith) | 733 comments I asked this last year, so why not do it again this year? ;)

Since we're approaching the end of 2013, most of us have read at least a few different books this year--and hopefully we've all read at least one good book! So, what was/were the best book/s you read in 2013?

As for me, my favorites of the year were:

Into Great Silence A Memoir of Discovery and Loss among Vanishing Orcas by Eva Saulitis The Dark by Lemony Snicket Exclamation Mark by Amy Krouse Rosenthal The Ultra Violets by Sophie Bell The Fairy-Tale Detectives (The Sisters Grimm, #1) by Michael Buckley The Wig in the Window by Kristen Kittscher

La_mariane Not a single book but I loved the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan : it was good escapism YA fantasy. But there was no book that wow-ed me this year :(

I felt the same way about the Percy Jackson series; it was definitely entertaining, but it was far from mind-blowing. (Though I still do intend to get around to reading the sequel & spin-off series.)

Hilary | 21 comments I didn't get as much reading done this year, as I had my son in February (little guy keeps me on my toes, lol). Although I haven't finished it yet, so far my favorite of the year has been "The Ocean at the End of the Lane" by Neil Gaiman. Very imaginative.

Elizabeth Qualia | 15 comments My top five books this year include: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and The House of Hades (The Heroes of Olympus, #4) by Rick Riordan , Quintana of Charyn (Lumatere Chronicles, #3) by Melina Marchetta , and The Song of the Quarkbeast; these 3 simply because they lived up to my expectations at their release. My favorite book that I read this year would have to be Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan because it is THE book for nerds like me.

Felicia (flux336) I finally relented and started to read the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. I love the Eric-centric books. Dead to the World (Sookie Stackhouse, #4) by Charlaine Harris Dead and Gone (Sookie Stackhouse, #9) by Charlaine Harris I really do enjoy them, but I like the angle the show took more. My favorite book of the year has to be Neil Gaiman's The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
