These are both series where I have 2 or 3 unread books. Time to pull them off Mount TBR!

Donna | 133 comments Both of these are on my TBR Shelf also. Guess I'll abandon one of the series I'm reading now.

message 14: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (curlupwithacozy) | 4 comments I just joined this group today and am looking forward to reading both of these books. The authors are on my list of authors I am interested in reading so I requested both of them from my library.

Welcome Peggy! The timing workedout great for you :)

message 16: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (crowshollow) | 50 comments These just went on my want to read list. I am also in a group of reading challenges so if I read these 2 I can kill 2 birds with 1 stone. WOO HOO! I have had the Alice Kimberly book for a while the other will be a new one. Thanks for the picks!

message 17: by Linda C (new)

Linda C (libladynylindac) Great selections. I have the Anne Kimberly on my shelf, so that's where I'll start

message 18: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (crowshollow) | 50 comments OH boo I cant find Murder on the Rocs in my library, and my sort of new years resolution is to only buy a new book once I have read 5 from my to be read pile. I'm doubting that will happen by the end of the month. I will just add it to my to buy list (also ever growing) and buy it when I have read enough other books.

message 19: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 2505 comments Mod
Lindsay - Good resolution! I'm trying to read more books that I own, and hope they'll either be group reads or fit into challenges. Does your library offer Inter Library Loans? I'm in WV and once got a book all the way from Phoenix.

message 20: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (crowshollow) | 50 comments Jaxnsmom- They do. I live in a really small town in Alberta Canada. When I pull books up I usually have a ton of success getting them. They pull from about 50 small town libraries all around Alberta. However not this time. I noticed it was published by Llewellyn, which is by no means a small publisher but most of their stuff as far as I know is non fiction. SO its entirely possible they missed it. I found a work around though. I just recommended the book to the library. if they decide to add it to the catalogue it will take a month or so but I will get a notification saying its available. so fingers crossed!

They're crossed :)

Jaxie (jax53) | 76 comments I do love the Karen McInerney series. Her latest one is actually on my to read list. I enjoyed so much the first book that i wanted to go and visit Maine. I havent still been able to do so but i hope i can do so this summer :) I highly recommend it. Enjoy your reading. About the second choice i cant find it on my local library so i think i'll skip this month's selection and try to get ahead on my queue :)

I live in Maine and hope you get a chance to visit it. Most books set in Maine tend to favor the coastal region, which is beautiful, but the whole state is wonderful, especially if you enjoy the outdoors.

I want to visit Maine, we actually have plans to visit sometime in the summer the town of Wiscasset (Castle Tucker sounds divine) and I know Karen McInerney says it's really a fictional island but some friends told me that any island/cove around Bar Harbor could easily be passed as Cranberry Island. Any ideas of places in Southern Maine to visit and enjoy beautiful island views? I'd appreciate your input. :)

As you might have noticed, our books for February have been chosen, thanks to Barb. The books are Death at Wentwater Court and The Cold Light of Mourning.

I fell behind last week. I'm in Charleston, WV, and was busy dealing with the water issue. Things are sort of back to normal, a lot of us are still drinking bottled water since there's still a smell.

I didn't know this had been chosen for February. I'm reading one of the Daisy Dalrymple mysteries by Carola Dunn now, Damsel in Distress. Love this series.

Read the first Elizabeth Duncan a couple of years ago when it was nominated for an Agatha Award. I have the second in my TBR.

Great choices.

My sister and I took a drive up the coast of Maine a few years ago. We fell in love with Camden. And Acadia National Park is wonderful.

message 31: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay (crowshollow) | 50 comments Finally finished The Ghost and Mrs. McClure. Not my favorite. I don't think I will be continuing on with the series. I don't know why it didn't grab me, it just didn't. I am currently reading Murder on the Rocks but that will take me a while as it is on my Kobo, and those books are read while I feed the kiddo. So I am a little behind but hopefully I will catch up. Going to try and get March's reads from the library right now!

I've set up a poll to select our April books. I couldn't decide, so I got it narrowed down to five. Voting will go through Thursday, and the top two books will be our group reads.

message 33: by Jennifer (last edited Apr 09, 2014 09:14PM) (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) | 659 comments For may: I think Sex, Murder And A Double Latte Sex, Murder And A Double Latte (A Sophie Katz Murder Mystery, #1) by Kyra Davis because that's turned out to be a really fun series, and Death, Taxes, and a French Manicure Death, Taxes, and a French Manicure (Tara Holloway, #1) by Diane Kelly -- two series with the same rhythm in the titles... :-)

message 34: by jaxnsmom (new)

And since Death, Taxes, and a French Manicure was on my poll, I'll get to read another series I've been wanting to try. Hooray!!

I have Sex, Murder And A Double Latte on my bookshelf. Been meaning to read it for a while.

Melodie (melodieco) I've got SEX, MURDER AND A DOUBLE LATTE in The Pile. Have the most recent Death and Taxes book near the top of The Pile, too!

message 37: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) | 659 comments I just finished that Kyra Davis series (so far) and really liked it. I hope you guys do too!

message 38: by Melodie (new)

Melodie (melodieco) Do we have an archive of past monthly selections? I want to make sure I don't choose something we've already had.

message 39: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jhaltenburger) | 659 comments There's a shelf for group read selections that has them all on it

Melodie - you can go to the group bookshelf, and check out the group-selection shelf.

message 41: by Melodie (last edited May 15, 2014 11:27AM) (new)

Melodie (melodieco) For June I'm picking Elaine Viets and Jenn McKinlay, who is one of my favorite cozy writers! Viets has 2 long-running series and I'm going to go with her Josie Marcus Mystery Shopper series as I like it better than her Dead-End Job series. With McKinlay it's hard to choose! She has the Cupcake Shop series, the Library Lover's series and the Hat Shop series, along with the Good-Buy Girls series she writes as Josie Belle. I think I'll go with the Hat Shop series. It's the newest and probably less of us may have already read it! Or you can go with all 3 of the series written under the Jenn McKinlay name!

And I have the first two Josie Marcus books in Mount TBR.

I hope the Josie Marcus books aren't at the bottom of Mount TBR - I'd hate to see the mess if you try to pull them out. LOL

I went and made 100 post it notes and labelled them from 1 to 100 and stuck them on my top 100 to be read books. planning on cracking it out this year. Trying to not buy any books until I get through the list. Hopefully my own Mount TBR shrinks to a speed bump.

I liked DON'T DIE UNDER THE APPLE TREE. There was supposed to be another one, but it's never been released.

I think I'm in the minority, but I liked the Grace & Favor books by Jill Churchill. Maybe it was the music-inspired titles that hooked me?
