To answer Janosch's question, there isn't really a set time period per se, since I assumed that this was eventually going to evolve into a fantasy setting. : )
But, what I envisioned when I was writing the opening was something similar to England in the 1910s, if that helps as a guidepost at all.
And Janosch - I really liked your character description! : )

Hi Dana, thank you very much! Very kind of you to say that.
How are you able to create such different worlds and settings so easily? I am impressed! I love the setting for Fallen Gables. And looking at the other group stories you seem to be a real world creator! Well done!
I actually imagined a scenery around 1900 hundreds due to your excellent writing style. :D You guys are all so talented here!
Thank you for having me. I feel honoured. And it is so much fun! :)
So, you said something about fantasy.
How should we take the story forward? Any hints?
Or should we just let the flow carry us to unknown shores?
Thank you! I'm glad the settings are coming through - I was a little worried when I was posting them.
I'm glad that you like the Fallen Gables setting. I think that it's going to end up being a lot of fun. I didn't make any firm plans as to where the story's going to go, because I wanted to see how everyone's characters ended up first - plus it should really be up to the group as a whole anyway. : )
What I'm seeing though is more steam-punk (crazy inventions/technology) rather than outright magic, though naturally I'll roll with whatever the rest of the group wants to do.

uhmm.. is the story dead already? :|I thought I wait until the others write a part before I write again, but it seems we are the only two.
Or am I mistaken?
Nope, not dead, just slow to get started. : ) Apparently everyone's really busy right now - but I just heard from Racheal, and she says she's still really excited about the story and is hoping to have a post up tomorrow. I'm still waiting to hear from Maria, and I'll send Cat a quick note as well, to see if she's going to have anything soon. : )
No problem.I just saw the buzzing activity over at the other stories and drew the wrong conclusion. :)
Good to hear. No problem if people are busy.
:)
I do like Downton Abbey quite a bit myself, but I still feel like we should wait a little longer and see what kind of characters Racheal and Maria come up with first. : )
heh. DA is cool. (and for the hard of hearing and slightly dim-witted, that's Downtown Abbey NOT Dunbledores Army) sorry for intruding.
:) I really like all of the writing from all of you so far.I can learn a lot here. Thank you for having me. It is a lot of fun to see how people write and how they use language.
I think it is going to be really funny later on as soon as the interactions starts. And also to see all the different styles of writing merge ( or not merge ) into a story line. :)
And the characters are fun too. Interesting to see how all of you can come up with detailed personas.
So far I can sense a direction for our lovely manson, but I think it is hard to tell how the story unfolds. Or maybe it is going to be one 360 after another. :D
Okay, so, since there still hasn't been any interaction from Marie or Racheal, I'm going to say that everyone can go ahead and create additional characters at this point. We're going to need extra perspectives if we're going to keep this going.
Also, I think that we need to come to at least a little bit of a consensus about what kind of story this is going to be. I originally imagined that this was going to be something of a fun-loving, fantasy adventure, but I know Cat mentioned that she wanted more of a Downton Abbey/Upstairs Downstairs kind of thing, which would be more of a character-driven drama. So, what do you think, Janosch? Let's get everyone's feedback, so we can figure out what we want to do. : )

Good question. Tough nut. It is kind of hard to agree on a theme, but I think we should do it.Let's keep paranormal stuff out please, if possible. Fantasy is fine, drama too.
The interaction is going to be the hardest part, since we are not allowed to use other characters.
So maybe we can agree on using some lines. I have no problem if you use my Mr. Storkinson for some quick lines or to advance the plot.
As long as you dont kill him. :)
It is a lot easier if you can at least provide dialogue for other characters, so let's say minor dialogue is fine, as long as you're not making serious decisions for someone else's character. I'll try to introduce some more NPCs in my next post as well, so that there are more people for the characters to interact with.
As for the genre, I agree - no paranormal. It sounds like everyone agrees that fantasy is fine, so that's something. : )
Do we want to try to decide what this story is "about"? Or should we just let it grow naturally from here?

I am really sorry but I have to announce that I am not able to write anymore for Fallen Gables.I am sorry. My character is up for grap now. Use or change him to your liking.
I cant contribute anymore due to being very busy.
Have fun! Thank you for having me. It was a lot of fun.
Best regards
Well, it never did seem to take off. I think that if it's going to stay alive at all, we would need more people participating. Three is usually the minimum for a decent group story.

Alright, I've posted something at the top of the group story section - hopefully that will spark some interest. : )

This story is currently being limited to 5 people, listed below. We may be able to expand on this later, but the cap is being put in place to try to keep things under control while the story first gets rolling. If you haven’t already, take a look at the rules listed in the thread “Group Stories,” and then head on over to the character creator to get started - assuming that you’re one of the five people listed below of course. : )
1. Cat (Catherine)
2. Marie
3. Janosch
4. Racheal
5. Dana
