Weird Westerns discussion

I picked this up since I'm a fan of Westerns and love something with a little twist. I fell in love with these books by Mike Resnick. I read the first two and have the other waiting and just ordered the 4th. Has anyone read these? Any thoughts?

I've read 30 something of Resnick's space westerns but none of his newer stuff.

I enjoyed Buntline Special. I thought it was lighthearted and fun. And who doesn't like Doc Holliday? I haven't read any of the others yet. Do they all star Doc?

Hi Eric, yes all of them star Doc. I read the first two, I have the 3rd and just ordered the 4th which just came out 12/10. All worth getting!

One could get lost in some of Mike Resnicks works. I see he writes this type of genre all the time so he's a great first author to read if one wants to start the genre.

Mike Resnic is fantastic.

I gotta say, I wanted to like this book but it bored me. Part of that was the mention of the native peoples' magic barrier and I wanted to go straight to that. That caught me up way more than whatever else was going on in the first few chapters. Did he get more into that later on?

I almost forgot about this book. It somehow is no longer on my to-reads list. Well I'm re-adding it and will definitely need to attempt to read it first chance I get.
