How much has technology affected how you write? Do you still write on yellow pads using a ball point pen? Or do you start outlining on paper, but then go to your PC? Or, like me, do you do it all on a computer and ereader. My first book in 1978 was, of course written by hand--until the final draft. I bought a computer to finish that.
Now, I do everything on electronics. I'm doing a book about dogs and civilization and I've bought many of the books I need for my e-reader. It keeps tabs on everything I've highlighted or made a note on. When I want to cite something but don't remember where I read it, all I have to do is go to My Highlights and scan the passages until I find what I'm looking for. The Highlights has the name of the book and the page the note is on. Since I've read dozens of books on evolution, wolves and dogs, this feature is a real boon to me.
The Barnes and Noble Nook HD+ also has Microsoft Office Suite on it. When you can't get to your computer, you can just write a .docx or a PDF file and, later, transfer it to your PC or print it out from the Nook. BTW, so far as I know, only the Nook has a site that saves your highlights and notations. It also keeps tabs on every word you've looked up and everything you've Googled. (I have an iPad and it doesn't do any of these things.)
