Every 25 years, there's something special about the games. The 25th games, everyone voted on who went into the games. On the 50th games, twice as many kids were chosen. On the 75th games, (I probably shouldn't tell you that. It'll ruin it.)
That's way too similar to the book though. I want it to be something different. Still HG but a different games.
Name- DamonAge- 17
Gender- Male
District- 4
Family- His mom and dad both died so his older sister, Jess, takes care of him and his younger brother, Joshua.
History- His parents were killed by peacekeepers the year his older sister turned 18. She took care of 10 year old Damon and 7 year old Joshua. Damon volunteered to Joshua when he got picked when he was only 12. He knew he would come home, no matter what.
I'm going to add a few more details to mine as well Extra info- The careers wanted him to join them immediately and he accepted. He had a plan to kill them all and the rest would be easy. His is a great fisher, being from district 4, and he trained for the games like most district 4 boys, but unlike them, he was only training in case he got picked and no one volunteered. He didn't want to volunteer until his younger brother was chosen.
Token- a charm bracelet given to him by his older sister
Plan for the games- He plans to team with the careers, kill them in their sleep, gain various people's trust and kill them as well. Surviving will be easy for him, he can fish and make fires easily. If there is no fish, he can also hunt and he knows a few berries that are safe to eat.
Damon dragged himself out of bed and shook his brother awake. "Get up." He said softly. "You know what day it is." He woke, his eyes looked sad. "Get dressed. I'll be right back if you need anything." He promised and headed to the kitchen where his older sister was waiting. "Damon," she said, "remember, if he gets chosen, someone else will volunteer. You don't have to."
"I know." Damon assured her. "He won't get picked anyway! He's only 12!"
"That doesn't mean he won't get reaped, Damon." His sister reminded him.
"I know."
"Go get ready. See if your brother needs anything."
Damon nodded and left the room and entered his room where his younger brother was struggling with his tie. Damon chuckled quietly and helped him tie it.
"Thanks." His younger brother said gratefully. Damon quickly changed into a button up shirt, dress pants, and a tie similar to his younger brother's outfit.
The small family of 3 headed to the square. The two boys headed to their places with the others their ages. Damon looked back to find his brother, but he was lost in the crowd.
The escort, Parma Truro(random made up name that probably isn't a real name), stood in front of the two bowls. "Ladies first." She said cheerfully. She took a slip of paper from the bowl and read it. "Sonia Carteen." (another random made up name) a twelve year old girl shuffled stiffly on stage. "Any volunteers?" Parma asked. A girl, probably 16 or 17, stepped forward. "I volunteer." She said as she walked on stage.
"What's your name?" Parma asked.
"Valentine Friar." The girl said.
"Great. Now for the young men." Parma said and she picked a name from the other bowl. "Kavin Doet."(I don't think I made a name for his brother. Or a last name for him...) Damon froze. How could his brother have been chosen? It was his first year! "Any volunteers?" Parma asked.
Before anyone could say anything, Damon stepped forward. "I volunteer." He said as he walked onto the stage.
"And what is your name, young man?" Parma asked
"Damon. Damon Doet." He responded.
"Valentine and Damon!" Parma said excitedly. Both of them were standing bravely and staring at the crowd. Parma led the two into the rooms where they said their goodbyes. His younger brother and older sister were the first to come. "Damon!" His older sister said. "I told you not to volunteer! You know someone else would have!"
"I also thought I knew he wouldn't get picked. We're all wrong sometimes." Damon replied.
His younger brother hugged him. "Thank you." He said quietly. Damon hugged him back.
"Anytime, bro." Damon said sadly. "You take care while I'm gone, ok?" His little brother nodded in response.
When they left a girl entered. Damon recognized her immediately. "Aurora." He wrapped her in a hug and kissed her. "Please, remember, anything I do in the arena is so I can come home to you." Aurora nodded. "You have to win." She said softly. "I don't know what I'd do without you." She admitted.
When Aurora left, Damon sat alone and waited for the meeting period to be over. He didn't have many friends that would visit him.
Damon and Valentine were led into the train and Damon immediately went to his room and laid on his bed.
Parma knocked on Damon's door. "It's time for dinner!" She said cheerfully. Damon sighed and went to the dining room. He wasn't happy but he stuffed himself with the delicacies anyway.
After Damon had stuffed himself with chicken and salmon and carrots and peas, and even a little wine, he headed back to his room. He took a shower then climbed into bed in a pair of blue pj pants.
Damon had nightmares about his little brother and what would have happened if no one volunteered for him. He was only 12! He would never be able to survive.
Damon woke up gasping for air and covered in a thin layer of sweat even though he had no blankets on and no shirt. Someone pounded on the door. "Breakfast was an hour ago! Get out here!" A male voice said. Probably his mentor. He dragged himself out of bed and got dressed quickly in a pair of jeans and a black t-shirt and he headed out of his room.
Damon walked into the dining cart and his mentor was sitting at the table, he looked angry. He was tall and he looked very strong. His gray eyes were scowling, his brown hair was cut short. "Do you want to survive in the games or not?" Damon was about to answer when he began talking again, "don't answer that," he said, "you have to stop ignoring everyone and trying to act like a tough guy and start listening to people so you can survive.""I wasn't trying to ignore anyone," Damon informs him, "I slept late, what's the big deal?"
"The big deal is that's precious time that you don't have. Time you could spend getting advice that could save your life!"
"Well sorry for sleeping," Damon said smugly. "Do you want my help or not?"
"What do I need it for? You're only going to tell me what I already know."
"Do you know how to get sponsors?"
"Yes."
"Do you know how to make a fire without creating smoke?"
"Yes."
"Do you know how to use a sword, bow, spear, and knife?"
"Yes."
"Do you know how to find food in the desert?"
"Yes."
"In the mountains?"
"Yes."
"In the ocean?"
"Are you really going to ask me that? You know what district I'm from, right?"
"Yeah, sorry. Anyway, you sound pretty set for the games except for the fact that there's no way you could already know all of that."
"Yes there is."
The man sighed. "I'm Mark, your mentor, by the way."
Damon nodded. "I figured."
"What's your strategy for the games?" Mark asked. "Join the careers, kill them in their sleep, make other allies and kill them in their sleep as well." Damon informed him.
Mark nodded. "Good strategy. Just don't let them suspect anything. Offer to take first watch, say you slept well the night before. Make sure they're asleep before you kill them and don't let anyone else know. You have to kill everyone there in the same night, before anyone else wakes up."
Damon nodded. "I know."
"Training started 10 minutes ago, so you should probably get down there," Mark told him. "Alright." Damon nodded and Mark lead him down to the training room. He was the last to enter.
Damon went to the berry section. He wasn't looking to show off... Yet. He would save that for later.
When Damon had memorized every berry an if it was poisonous, he saw a girl at the camouflage section and decided to practice his camouflage skills and he walked to the station.
Damon watched her carefully as he practiced his camouflage, painting himself to look like rocks, trees, and sand.
Damon looked over curiously. "Are you alright?" He asked, he had to make friends now or no one would trust him in the games.
Damon sighed. He could only hope someone else killed her, he obviously wasn't going to gain her trust.
((That's why I said almost. I think it would be cool if they were the last two left and Damon tried to kill her an she finally gained the courage and killed him first.))
((Yeah, I know, by the capital would never make that mistake again. Besides, I'm not saying she has to. It was just an idea. One of our characters should win though. If Rachel won't kill anyone, I doubt it will be her.))
((Sadly, that's not how the games work. One of us will have to die. I would say Damon would, but if Rachel won't kill him, he won't die.))
