Buddy Read - Conspiracy In Death (Dec. 2013) SPOILER ZONE
Some of you have indicated you are finished with Holiday and Midnight. Please don't feel rushed if you are not quite ready to begin this one. It will be a few days before I start it.
It's a great one, for sure. I'm excited to begin a reread of it as it's been a long time since I've read it. That's been part of the fun and excitement of these buddy reads for me...it has been a good long time since I read most of these books and I'm loving the re-discovery of each book plus picking up new little things I missed before. And that's not counting the wonderful, stimulating book discussions with everyone!
I just relistened to it, but I think I will actually re-read with you guys on this one. This is in my top 3 faves.
All time favourite in the series!!!!!!!! But I have to say i might be out of the buddy read for a while. I'll try and keep up and chime in whenever I can
Ahhhh Michelle...you can't leave us! Pop in anytime you can. I will miss your comments if you don't.
I'm going to miss participating. :-((. I've been here from the start. But I'm reading along just very slowly. Back to work full time preparing for a tour to Bordeaux in January. So any one with suggestions of what to do in winter in France . . . I'm actually excited bout being in snow. We don't really get snow in my part of South Africa. And summer has really hit us December. Oh and then off to Perth in February
That sounds like a lot of fun, Michelle, hard work too, I'm sure. Please drop in as often as you can!
School French. Promptly forgotten when I left the school grounds for the last time. Oh and then the odd French song I have to sing.
Just need to get through this week. Seems most things have come to a almost standstill. Country in mourning. Mandela really was an icon.
Lmao:-)))). Dawn très drôle ;-). Every time I've traveled pre-iPad it use to drive me crazy not finding English published anything. It's weird to see famous authors in foreign languages.
Many here are in mourning for him as well...he was my generations hero. I can remember refusing to purchase Coke products, which was traumatic because I hate Pepsi.
But I must also add that I have a colleague that has discover an app that as you focus in on a poster or anything written it does an immediate translation of whatever you've focused in on. It's a direct translation and really is weird and wonderful. Technology is sometimes just fantastic
Mandela really was a unique human being. I hope his legacy continues, even if only in small ways.
I have been reading this one and so far I'm loving it. The story is so intense that I've actually had a hard time in a few places. But, as always, Roarke is supporting Dallas.
Hope it's ok to join. I loved this book. Who am I kidding I like them all. This one got to me more than some.
It's been so long for me that I had forgotten that about this one... Also, I read most of these books way before I started rating and/or reviewing books. I've just been adding them back to my tbr list and rating them as I reread each one. Happy to have you join us, Lisa.
I have the audiobook, but don't have time to listen to it for a couple of weeks. Need a break from crime novels.
No problem. I'm got several other books to read and review plus the holidays are fast approaching. Maybe everyone could just post when they start and we'll go from there.
I have 2 library books I have to get through(can't renew them) before I can start. I can catch up with you all if others are ready to start CID now.
Wow...I had forgotten the Prologue to this book. It gives me chills every time I read it. What a way to open a book...My attention is immediately captured - like looking at a wreck that you can't look away from even though you know you should - You have insight to the killer's mind right off the bat! Writing genius!!
Yay, Azleen!! Please do! Very happy to have everybody join in this buddy read. I know several of the others are ready to read this one. I started it last night. Jump in anytime! Who else is reading this one now?
I didn't like this book the first time I read it, but I like it better each time I reread it. I am looking forward to reading this book.
Yes! I highlighted it when his name popped up!! Love it! This one is really getting a bit creepy though...I had kinda forgotten that parts of it gave me such a creepy feeling for some reason. Maybe because I know they are out to get Eve...
There's no one quite as menacing and yet beautiful as an angry Roarke seeking justice for his wife. Wow!
Wow. What a book for introductions. Trueheart, Webster, Louise. I love the supporting cast of these books!
Me too, Elizabeth! I just finished my reread of it and just had to sit and think about it awhile. One of my favorites, I think.
I finished last night and am still thinking about it. Love Roarke's tough love to help Eve. And Mira. She so lovely.
I loved that "tough love" part too! I was a bit surprised that Eve didn't see through that to begin with but it took her a bit. And Mira having to administer the Level 3 testing to Eve...it just killed Mira to do it! And Roarke waiting for Eve to come out not knowing for sure what she went through. Every woman should have a Roarke to take care of her!
I cry each and every time I get to the part where Eve has to hand over her badge, go tell Peabody and Feeney to take over, and then realizes she doesn't even have a car to get home. Aaaaghhh! I'm tearing up now.
Definitely one of the saddest scenes...they took her identity and it broke her. Until Roarke brought her back and she started working behind the scenes to solve the case. Love the loyalty Peabody & Feeney show her. They never consider NOT joining in with her even at the risk to their own careers.
Oh...and one of my favorite scenes is when Eve asks Roarke for 1/2 million to "bribe" Louise and he tells her to take it out of her account...LOL She finds out he has set up a personal account and seeded it with 5 millions dollars! That brought on another one of those "We're so going to talk about this later" moments! LOL
