Hey y'all! So I'm posting my first story on here! I have a prologue and two chapters so far :) let me know what y'all think! :) it is completely unedited and such, so if you've any tips, feel free to provide them ;)

ETERNAL

Prologue

I sped through the forest, the roots grabbing at me, the leaves, usually bright green, dark and sharp. The Guardians chased after me, and I struggled for breath. One of the Guardians even went as far as to take his wand and try to stupefy me. I tripped on the growing tree roots, as they tried wrapping around me. One root got ahold of my ankle. I hacked at it with my dagger, and finally it gave up and let go. The Guardians were closer than ever now. I knew, at this moment, the other Guardians who stayed behind were putting up Wanted posters with my face plastered on them. And I also knew exactly why.

I tried to kill the queen.

And I'm pretty sure that kind of thing is frowned upon in Lovelace. Or anywhere in Divinity for that matter.

CHAPTER 1

2 weeks later

The amount of food that I brought could last me a month, if portioned correctly. As I began packing my bag again, from my previous night's stay in a cave that turned out to be owned by a pack of wolves, I also tended to my scratch wounds. Wolves, no matter how well you get along with them, like their personal space.

Once I finished, I took several deep breaths.

"Calm down." I whispered to myself.

And that's when two strong arms wrapped around me, one hand covering my mouth and the other holding a knife to my throat.

"Move and you're dead." It was a boy's voice, like a teenager, and there was a slight british accent. He tied my wrists and spun me around, and I was facing him, the knife still cold against my skin.

He looked around my age. He was taller than me, which is saying something, because my family and I are very tall. His dark blonde hair swept over his blue gray eyes. He was very handsome, I realized, even if his appearance was startling. But I couldn't afford to think that way; after all, he did just bind me and threaten me. He had muscles, I could tell, but not so much that he was showing off. His face was set in a smirk.

"A girl? And a kid, at that." He said, smiling.

"I'm not a kid." I snapped. "I'm 16."

"Oh, well then." The boy rolled his eyes. "I'm 17, so yeah, you're a kid. What are you doing here?"

"I was just leaving before you so rudely threatened me." I replied.

"Obviously." His eyes were wide with amusement. "I like you. You've got bite."

I smirked. "And you will actually get bitten if you stay here." I honestly didn't want to run into the wolves again.

"What's your name?" He asked, his voice softening. His accent was amazing.

'Why are you thinking about that?' I thought to myself. 'Quit it!'

"Evelynn." I reply, surprised that my name actually slipped out.

"I'm Henry." He smiled, and I nearly smiled back.

"If you don't mind me asking, why'd you tie me up?" I asked.

"You're a Traveler, right?"

I froze, my eyes wide with terror. How did he know that? As if to answer my thought, he untied me but held my wrist. He flipped my arm over and looked down at my forearm.

Everyone in Lovelace, my country, has tattoos. They all say your name and your occupancy. But because I'm a Traveler, or a "world jumper" as people like to call it, we all have another tattoo on our dominant arms. It's a picture, an elaborate one, that represents each individual person.

Being a Traveler is dangerous. But if you're chosen by the Council of Truths, in the Divine World, then that means you have the Sight. You have the ability to see magic that others couldn't care to understand.

So as Henry looked down at my arm, I couldn't help but realize how soft his touch was. I shivered as he ran a finger over my Tree tattoo, the roots swirling around all the way up to my elbow.

"You're a Traveler." He said, confirming it. I pulled my arm back quickly and wished I was wearing my sweatshirt to cover it up.

"Are you a Guardian?" I asked quietly, suddenly worried.

Henry laughed. He actually laughed. "A Guardian? Those bloody idiots have been after me for years."

"Really? Why?"

Henry sighed and pulled back the sleeve of his sweatshirt and showed me his arm. A large paw print, like that of a wolf, was bold on his forearm.

"I'm a Traveler too."

CHAPTER 2

One Year Later

"Evelynn! Hurry up!" I heard Henry yell from from the top of the tree. I quickly scaled it, and swung up onto the branch. Luckily I put my long brown, almost black hair into a bun, so it didn't snag on anything.

"Hold on!" I yelled back and finally got to Henry.

"Took you long enough." He flashed his signature smirk.

"Whatever. So what's the occasion?"

"Happy Birthday." Henry smiled and handed me a small, wrapped package.

Did I mention how much of an amazing friend he is?

"Henry!" I smiled. I held the package in my hands and just looked at it for a moment.

"Well, we don't have all day. You gonna open it?" I rolled my eyes at him and tore the package open. In it was a rectangular box, and when I opened it, a necklace lay there.
It was the same design as my tree tattoo almost, and I hugged him quickly.

"Thank you!" I exclaimed.

"Of course." He said into my hair. "And now I'm taking you out to lunch. My treat. I got my paycheck from the restaurant finally. We can enjoy-"

We both jumped as an arrow whizzed past our heads, and stuck in the tree trunk near my ear. I stood and looked down at the forest ground.

No.

No no no.

"The Guardians." Henry whispered as another arrow was shot.

These arrows, though.

They weren't the normal silver, hollow wood that the Guardians used.

They were handmade, stick like arrows, with actual bird feathers at the end of the shaft.

I scrambled down the tree after Henry, and together we sped through the forest, the arrows narrowly missing us.

As we ran, I prayed I wouldn't trip. My wish came true, though I was stopped in a different way.

A hand shot out and grabbed the back of my shirt. Covering my mouth with one hand, the other arm wrapped around my waist. I struggled against the person, but like Henry, their grip was strong.

I kicked and struggled, especially when I heard Henry yell my name, looking for me.

"Relax!" The boy's voice in my ear whispered.

I didn't relax. I continued struggling, but eventually I stopped, growing tired.

When Henry's voice was far enough away, the boy's grip on my waist loosened. I immediately kicked at him, but he only laughed.

"Come on now, Evelynn, you're in good hands."

I froze. He knew my name.

"Boys!" He called, and I was soon surrounded by a bunch of teenage boys.

"Nice to finally meet the Leader." One cocky Irish boy smirked. "She's not much though."

"She looks plenty fine to me." An Australian boy spoke up.

"A British gal?" The Irish boy replied.

"Bug off." A smaller American boy snapped, and the Irish boy pushed him over.

"Boys, boys!" The main one yelled. He was actually quite handsome, bright green eyes and brown hair.

'Why is it I seem to think all guys who capture me are cute?' I thought to myself, a bit irritated.

"Alright." He looked at all the other teens. They all looked at him as if he was their king, but also their friend. "Now, let us begin with introductions."

He gestured to me, and spoke. "This, my brothers, is Miss Evelynn, the Leader!" All the boys cheered.

Then he gestured to the boys surrounding us. "These, my dear girl, are the Lost Boys." He patted my shoulder and smiled.
"My name is Peter. Peter Pan."

Hey y'all! So if you have a Wattpad, it would be wonderfully fantastical if you could go and follow my profile, AlchemystDragonfly (my username is based on another story I'm writing ;) ) and read my two stories, 'Dragonfly' and 'Falling Slowly!' Thanks y'all! :)

Theodosia of the Fathomless Hall (taelianaofthewind) Peter Pan.

This is Peter Pan!

Hmmf, I'll start with the grammatical slips first since that probably will be less brutal...
(Jks, all of this probably won't be horrid criticism *gasps*)
Well British is traditionally capitalized, I think you should look over it for a few extra commas,
(My brother berates for that all the time: you are not alone, Andigirl :D.)
And, um...either than that you're better at punctuation than I :D.

And then...This I can understand given the huge impact of it on modern literature but a lot of things reminded me of current books, e.g the tattoos, a wand being used to "Stupefy" someone...

Either than that, there may be a few things that would appear rather anachronistic but as the setting isn't established - it would be anyway - it's all good!!

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

Thank you! Yeah, I so see that about the modern books, and the commas ;) thanks :)

Theodosia of the Fathomless Hall (taelianaofthewind) You are welcome! Thanks for being polite and not telling me to shove off with my criticism with me :P.
Lovely!

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Haha no I totally appreciate criticism, it helps with your writing and you can get some really useful tips! :)

Hey y'all! Ok so I've been working on this ALL morning!! It's a Fable Poem!! I hope y'all enjoy it! It's basically nonsense but it's fun!

DANCE WITH MONSTERS AND MAGIC

This old house here
At the end of the creek
Is believed to be haunted
By a mystery so bleak

They do not know
Of what happens here
And how the festivities rage on
And the music is dear

When the moon is hung high
On it's constant moving nail
Strung up on the branches of my tree
That stands guard beside the box of mail

I take a step inside
And glance around the large room
Waiting for the inspiration
That comes and steals away the gloom

A snap and a rustle
Sound out through the house
And I smile with wistfulness
For I know it's not a bird or mouse

Stepping down the stairs
The banisters start to twist
And instead of oak wood polished up
They become vines of plants and the air thickens with mist

I knock on the door quickly
One knock, three knocks, then four
And the creaking door opens up
To a party that is never a bore

The creatures are all there
With their smiles and cheers of sound
And the amount of welcome I get
Was enough to shake this now dirt ground

Before I tell of the party
I must first tell of the guests
Who are wonderful friends and entertainers
And who others believe to be pests

First is the fae, the only "normal" of the bunch
Who are here for the tricks and fun
And they're seemingly innocent faces
Are really hiding the tricks that have already begun

Then there is the Fufflelut
Who's appearance is that of a fuzzy ball of red
And who's arms and legs are straight and who's eyes
Are joyous and light, and who's spirit is never put to bed

Then comes the Brixen, with his similarity to a leprechaun and is often mistaken for one,
The devilish little fellow
Who pours magic into the punch
Which makes the other tricksters skin glow blue and orange and yellow

The odd group of Littews, and a large group at that
May seem shy and funny at first
Are really the life of the party, for they sing and dance with their funny fur hats
Who gain their energy from the punch, each in a little blast

Then finally comes the darkest
And seemingly meanest of them all
It's eyes dancing instead with flames
And his name is Hilohall

Hilohall is a large beast
With the body of a lion and wings and head of an eagle
This creature is known as a griffin
But this jet black one is for one instead of for all

Now that you've been caught up
On the mystical creatures of Gavetlun, their home
Let me now continue our story
For the time has now come

The forest grows around us
The walls and furniture gone
And the twinkling music that plays
Is from instruments not seen, graceful and smooth as a swan

I walk through the crowd of creatures
Even more showing now than the ones you've been told
All of magic and chaos and fun
All of new found and all of old

I sidle between them
All the way to the back
Where Hilohall is standing majestically
As though he knew more things than I that this gathering lacked

"Hello Hilohall" I spoke to him
And his flaming eyes locked on mine
And he leaned in closer
And I smiled and pet his wings, feathers fine

Hilohall glanced at the creatures
And the Brixen waved, his top hat slipping off his head
And the Fufflelut twirled with the Littews
And the fae complained of their now glowing skin and to the trees they fled

Their bright lights
Mean yet fun
Shone down on the party
And created a rainbow aura that with their movement spun

And so I went about
Greeting and smiling
All my friends and their friends
And the guests that kept on piling

The Faeries have created something fun
Something humming with magic and bright
And now there were tiny fireworks going off everywhere
And we were the only things in the dead of night

There were candles now as well
Just floating above us
Their flames an array of colors
And they jumped like creatures making a fuss

The long, elegant table
With a tablecloth of gold
Was full to the ends with food
From all kinds of cultures, subtle and bold

As the dancing slowed
Hilohall stood at the end of the table
And exclaimed with his chest out and black wings spread
"Come, creatures of Gavetlun, eat until you're no longer able!"

All the creatures scurried to the tables
Except for the fae, who grabbed their food
And retreated to the trees
All still in a good mood

I sat at the end of the table
Hilohall beside me
And the Fufflelut on my other side
And my spirits as high as could be

We ate the delicious meal
Made by the Fufflelut himself
Who is known for his cooking
And his talents better than the best elf

And then finally came dessert
A wonderous group of creative things
Of chocolate and ice cream, ones that I know
And of others that are not so familiar, but when the Faeries see them, one even sings

After lots of laughs,
Howls and talking
The moon began shifting
And the starlight's brightness shocking

The guests of the party
Began saying goodbye
And "see you next time"s
And then the Faeries turned to fly

And the Brixen bowed
And waved again
And tipped his hat towards me
Like a mischievous gentleman

And the Littews all scurried around
Saying departing things quickly
And they said goodbye each in turn
And then ran to their homes that were prickly

And the Fufflelut winked
And bowed as well
Then took his plates, pots, and pans
And down a little odd hole he called home he fell

And now it was just two
Me and Hilohall
And he smiled at me for the first time
And we watched the silver moon fall

And then it was time for him to go
So he nudged me in a friendly way
And I pet his wings and smiled
And he flew up and on his way

I walked back to the door in the Great Tree
And opened it up
I glanced back one more time to the hauntingly beautiful place
Of a place of magic and love

As I step up the stairs
The vines and must begin to twist
And the banister returns to oak wood
And the flowers no longer wound around my wrist

And I dashed out of the house
And ran straight back home
And crawled into bed
Before my parents saw that I roam

And I then awake from my dream
And realize I fell asleep
And I look down and see I fell asleep at my desk
And my pen and paper had stayed with my stories to keep

And then I saw
That I had wrote something just now from my head
I glanced at the paper
And read what it said

"Imagination is they key
To all mayhem and lifts the souls of tragic
And one way to unlock that wish
Is to Dance With Monsters and Magic"

AUTUMN SHADES

Red
Orange
Green and Gold
These are some shades
Of an Autumn day
Leaves are floating about
Creating a rain like scene
That leaves me searching for a cloud
That seems to be no where within sight
So I watch the leaves swirl and twirl and dance
I walk through the light of the forest
The sunlight set off against trees
And I beg it not to leave
This beauty that I see
And I listen and
Watch the leaves that
Fly past me
Straight on
Down
