The Choice is a romance novel. The main character, Travis Parker, has the perfect single life. He is athletic and completely content with where he is in life. He has a new neighbor, Gabby. They meet when Gabby accuses his dog of impregnating her dog and wants him to take responsibility for it. It wasn't the nicest way of meeting but they grow an interest in each other. They start their life together eventually getting married and having 2 kids. Gabby is a nurse and one of her patients was a woman that fell into a comma and her husband would come visit her everyday. The heartbroken man eventually became very angry with life. This scared Gabby so she made Travis promise her that if that were to happen to her that he would only wait 6 weeks for her to wake up and then he would take her off life support. One rainy day on their way home after a movie Gabby and Travis start arguing and it causes Travis to run into a tree, gabby fell into a comma. Travis has waited 3 months for her to wake up and he needs to make his decision soon. Should he keep to what gabby wanted and let her die or hold on to hope that the love of his life will wake up?
My favorite part of the book is in the beginning when the author describes Travis's perfect life and it feels like im sitting right next to him. The book is very cliche by having the guy fall in love with the cute neighbor but it really took me by surprise that that wasn't the only plot to the story. the book really had you on the edge of your seat. The inner conflict with travis while gabby was in a comma was so life like, it was almost like i had to make the decision with him. I really like that the book had more to it than a typical love story, and surprisingly the ending was great and pretty comical.
