Love the books and love True Blood. I have got to pull out
for a quick re-read. There are all kinds of things on the show that don't follow that book, but I'd like to re-read just to refresh my memory about a few things.
LOL yes the show has definitely drifted away from the books this season but I'm glad they kept Lafayette around.
I've read up to book 4 so far. However, i've never been able to get into the show. Maybe if i had seen the show first, but it is not what i had in my mind when i read them.

The show is way different, but that's okay with me. I like watching TV shows that are meant for adults!
Well, the one thing that the show has that the books don't--a living breathing (excuse the expression) ERIC. Sigh, he's just DIVINE. And I don't even LIKE blond males. But I'm making an exception for Eric. The actor doesn't quite match up to my mental image of Eric (I was seeing him as MUCH bigger) but he's still major eye candy. And I too am glad that they kept Lafayette. Yes, in the books he's dead, but they DO keep his memory alive with a couple of the menu items that Lafayette invented being called "Lafayette" burgers, fries etc.
Mmmh Eric Yùmmy. I've been arguing with my friend over the pass week She called Eric sleazy and loves Bill. Oh how I want to smack her.Lol
Eric? SLEAZY--what is she, NUTS???? Now BILL, yes he's sleazy. Or do you all suppose we think that because we know what's going to happen? I don't really remember seeing the actor playing Bill in much else, so I don't know if my reaction is because he's playing icky Bill or what. But normally I like my men dark haired with light eyes. And about 6'3" or so. Um, did I mention a cleft chin? BTW--I just described my hubby who is, at least in MY opinion the dreamiest man on the planet. And I've only been telling him that for decades. :o) Our youngest grandson has a small cleft in HIS chin. And he acts sssooo much like his Granddad. Um, ok, going to quit before I threaten to whip out the photos of my grandsons.
Lol whip them out. But yeah I normally don't like blondes either but Eric is yummy and I like Alex in the role. I do think that since we know how book Bill it's hard to like TV Bill even though Moyer is great in the part. My friend actually stopped reading the series after book 4 because Sookie/Bill aren't together. She even stopped watching the show Uggh!
I ALWAYS had a thing for tall, blonde men. Went out with a lot of them. All those years ago when I met DH he wasn't really a blonde but he did have light hair and he's 6'3" with blue eyes so he met most of the requirements. Mostly I just love men...PERIOD! But a blonde will stop me in my tracks every time.
I love Eric. I'm very anti-Bill. He took Sookie for granted but she can't seem to forget him because he was her first. Hopefully Eric will fix that when the next book comes out, lol. Also, Alexander Skarsgard is a perfect Eric! Season 2 Eric was definitely an improvement from season 1, pretty sure it was the new hair.
I just wanted to comment and say I finally [after watching a season of True blood, we didn't get cable after we moved but there is always DVD...lol:] started this series. I liked Sookie on TV and liked her in the book. I liked how the series is written and plan on continuing it.
I got to meet Charlaine Harris today!!! She was in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. My friend and I sat in line for 5 hours before it started and had great seats. Also, we were the first in line for autographs and she was so kind to sign 3 things per person, so I got my 2 books and a True Blood signed. She is such a wonderful person and I'm thrilled I got the chance to meet her. The lady who reads the audio books was also there and read 3 passages and answered questions. She was so talented!! I just wanted to share some highlights of what Mrs. Harris had to say (what I can remember at least):
1. In February, there will be a Sookie Companion Book (sooooo excited!!!!!). It will have secret conversations between Bill and Eric, a novella about Sams brothers wedding, recipes (yes, she did say recipes!), etc.
2. She regrets killing off Claudine, but she won't be coming back.
3. She wants to start a new series soon.
4. There will be a Harper Connelly graphic novel, I believe.
5. All her books series are done, except for at least 3 more Sookie books. She said she would like to write another Aurora TeaGarden book though if she has time.
6. She loves True Blood and likes to watch Alan Ball go crazy with the storyline.
7. In the short story in Death's Excellent Vacation, featuring Pam and Sookie, which comes out in September, she said "there is a stripper pole involved." lol
Thats all I can think of at the moment. Time to get some sleep after a long day :)
Megan: That must have been a wonderful treat to meet Charlaine Harris! Thanks for sharing your notes on her comments. Three more Sookie books and a companion are good news. I am glad she is planning a new series too, we need more from this author. I loved her Lily Bard books.
Oh and I always have liked Eric in the books and Alexander Skarsgard is fantastic on True Blood!

I'm a fan of the HBO Series, and just this weekend picked up the first book. I'm looking forward to it!
I hope you enjoy it. I skipped the first book but loved the other. It's very different from the show.
I'm in the middle of reading Dead in the Family and love this series all though I haven't been able to watch the shows because I don't get HBO. No sad face because I seen that I can rent the DVD's for the whole season from the video store so yah. Plus, I'm a believer in the books being better than the movie/shows.
