Savannah pushed the doors open. She quite enjoyed going here when things were too tense downstairs.Taking a seat in front of an open window, she looked out at the afternoon sun, covered with grey clouds. Rain hit the sides of the building and a few came through the window, though missing Savannah by inches.
The huge telescope sat in the middle of the room, as grandiose as the rest of the school.
"Savannah?"Aidan called. He had been trying to follow her and had no idea where she was at this point. Actually he had no idea where he was at this point.
Savannah sigh-groaned, turning in her chair. Of course it was Aidan. Cass or Veronica had probably told him to follow her. Craig probably warned him."Yes, what is it?"
He steps over and sighs before continuing,"I'm sorry about earlier." He really did in her own way he knows she was trying to make him feel welcome and she certainly didn't need to.
Savannah nodded. "I understand. But of course, you have a map. You can find your way around, can't you?"
"I'll manage." he says a bit surprised she was so quick to accept his apology. He begins looking around. He could see why she would come here.
((Alright. Night!))Savannah raised an eyebrow. "Ultimately impressed by the rest of the school, I see."
Savannah nodded. "Yes, it is. I suppose you'd be a bit surprised with all the 'new abilities' as well."
"Well, in the beginning, there weren't. There very few, really. Not much is known about the exact origin of our powers, but when the Elementals met up, they had children, resulting in more Elementals. It's a bit like the study of attractive people getting together and creating more attractive children."
Aidan chuckles a little, "I wish I knew what powers my parents had. Or why they never said anything." he says, "Do you like your powers?" he asks.
Aidan thinks about what she said, he supposed that makes sense he thinks he would have remembered if his parents did. "I don't know. I mean we didn't ask to have strange abilities and be different than everyone else. I suppose you've got such a good handle on it though it's not really a problem."
Savannah nodded. "I suppose so. Some of the others don't really know what to do, and well...it all ends. That's why they try to find the kids as soon as possible."
It had taken them a while to find him but he couldn't blame them he never stayed anywhere more than a week or two. "How long have you been here?"
Aidan nods. "Honestly I'm only planning on staying a year. Well I was. I'm not really sure." he says honesty feeling tired enough that he starts to ramble without filters.
He shrugs he wasn't really sure himself. "Anywhere I guess." he looks up at the sky through the observatory," Don't you ever just want to leave?"
Aidan nods," Should've guessed." he says with a small smile," I've been to Germany twice- where are from?"
"Munich and Berlin. But I've read about Trier- or at least the things there. The Porta Nigra, the Cathedrals." Aidan says recalling them.
"I understand. Where are your parents?" he asks curiously. After he asks he wonders if he's asked something too personal.
Savannah looked down. "No, it's not like that. My parents are there, and so is Anneliese. But it's just...lonely. It's been like that for a few years. They knew about the powers before I did, clearly, but I don't know why they don't like them. It might be something to do with Grandma....perhaps..." she trailed off.
Aidan nods not sure what to say because he doesn't want to pry. "At least they're there." he says with a shrug.
"Nothing. Just saying. I mean having roots some place with family. Even if you don't all get along super well that's still a good thing." he says making sure he's looking at the stars so she can't see his face.
Aidan doesn't answer for a while,"Oh." he says noncommittally. He tries to think of something else to talk about to try to change the subject but he couldn't.
"Yeah- and you've got a meeting at eight." he says with a small smile standing. He had to admit all things said and done she really wasn't that bad.
Aidan watches her go and sits for a second before getting up. He pulls out the map from his pocket and leaves.
Savannah entered one of her favorite classrooms in the entire school. She took a seat in the front, closest to the telescope.
Ms. Montagu handed out pamphlets while Ms. Pandiscio talked about the class.
Mara attended this class, expecting star charts and how to navigate, because that is what she used astronomy for. She got instead a lecture about telescopes and planetary movement. Fascinating but different. It looks like she will have a challenge with this one as well. She takes the handouts and thinks about her last few classes before the teacher is done. She slips out as soon as she can. Heading for a more practical class Woodshop.
