Well I'm in the middle of reading Clockwork Angel when I realized that Cassandra Clare talks about Will Hernondale as Jace's father and that he died in the Mortal Instruments. That spoiled the book for me, because I read The Mortal Instruments before I read Clockwork Angel...Cassandra Clare...WHY?

No, Stephen Herondale is Jace's father. Will would be way too old. Will is Jace's great great great grandfather. I'm pretty sure.
If Will was his father, Jace would be around 200 yrs old. And I doubt he will still be as beautiful as he is. But you never know with Jace...

@Dimka actually that's wrong too :/ Imogen was not born a Herondale she married in to the family by marrying Marcus Herondale, Stephen's father.

I thought James had a daughter/son who then had a son who married imogen. I didn't think it would be that direct
James, as far as I know, had a son named Owen. Owen then had Marcus who married Imogen, and they had Jace's father, Stephen Herondale. Therefore, Will is Jace's fourth great grandfather.
Will is obviously not Jace's father it said who his father was in the book and we already know the family tree of the herondales.
