no worries, I didnt either. It's been a tough reading week, but I plan to try to get caught up today and tomorrow
5 chapters in. I am confused and have no idea what is going on. I dont really think I understand slipping.I am looking forward to nick and alex meeting in person.
OMG I sat down with this tonight and just couldn't put it downI didn't understand slipping either until I got a few more chapters in. It does a great job of explaining and catching you up. I was confused for atleast 5 - 10 chapters
but I absolutely LOVE this story. I'm 80% and will probably be awake long enough to finish it tonight
I'll definitely post more thoughts tomororw
Okay, I'm doneand that was a wonderful story (I loved it!)
Nick (view spoiler)
Alex (view spoiler)
The dock (view spoiler)
clinic (view spoiler)
I'm about ten chapters in. it seems like as I read it gets more confusing on what slipping is and how it works.
On chapter 23. Although slipping still isn't making anymore sense to me I am really loving the characters.
oh no! You guys are still confused??she just travels in her dreams.
Do you have questions I can help with?
she just travels thru her dreams & ends up at the physical spot
Does Nick travel too?Are the dreams they share dreams or them traveling?
If they are dreams then how can she bring tangible items back from her dreams to reality?
How do people not notice Nick disappearing if they are both slipping to the same place?
If she is slipping to (view spoiler)
If she straps her (view spoiler)
If she is disappearing and reappearing elsewhere how is it that no one has seen her randomly materialize and following the same thought, when she was a child how is it that no one saw her disappear.
Does she disappear in the blink of an eye or does she slowly fade out....
If she can strap items like id and a cell phone to her body why wouldn't she sleep with a bag of supplies on her back, tied to her wrist...etc.....
I think I really just want more details on the logistics of it than watching Alex and Nick (dream?) talk. I like that we get boring mundane details about Nicks life. I feel that there are not enough included about Alex's so far and hers is the one I am most interested to read about.
Sorry, I have more questions. They will come back to me as I read it.
lol Okay, some of this is answered later....like...near the end later...so i'll answer some stuff but I don't want to reveal too much
How does she disappear - I have no idea. I don't think that's ever explained.
Materializing - I think she HAS popped into some dangerous spots and in houses or buildings - I thought it said something about that (one of her memories) and I think she had to stay hidden until they left or the place opened or something like that. She's just had to problem solve as she goes
Supplies - I think she only packs what she can. She hasn't been able to sleep with a backpack so I think she straps what she needs and just tries to make it - and so far for her it's worked. she hasn't needed more....until that one time she's "camping"
showing Nick - part of her Doesn't WANT to show Nick. He's only opening up to her because he doesn't believe she's real. It's like revealing his secrets to himself so he feels safe to talk.... She's scared that if she becomes real, he'll clam back up and will try to stop seeing her
I think she's slipping to areas (view spoiler)
hmmmm....see, I loved the mundane details of Nick's life. I like how it tied them together. It made, for me, Nick more real so I knew what was happening in his world too. and I really liked Nick, I found him funny and his friends were a kick! But even his crazy missions were interesting to me....
I don't know if it is specifically addressed, but as far as I know - Nick isn't slipping, so no disappearing. Alex is only slipping when she arrives elsewhere when she wakes up.
I agree that the mundane details about Nick's life are great. I just feel that we get far more about his day to day and his history. I feel that it is lacking for Alex's life.
I guess I didn't realize all of the things that weren't explained...lol I must have been just too swept up with Nick and Alex
sometimes I think it's better to read books quickly. often when I read them too slow I get distracted and can't lose myself in them as easily. so far I think the characters and the dialogue are the best parts of this one.
I finished this a few days ago but didn't have time to post earlier.First of all, I am so glad most of my questions got answered by the end of the book. I really enjoyed this one.
I wasn't expecting the (view spoiler).
