Hi everyone.

I decided to make this thread for general discussions, chatter, rants about how horrible your day has been.

Here, have a cookie [cookie]

Tachi Today I was handed a pack of gummies that are supposed to give you energy(they're called power-something) and I ate one and my sister gave me four more. A while later, I didn't feel so good and my cousin told me that the gummies had a warning saying that it wasn't supposed to be for people 18 and under because of how much caffeine they had. That was my first and hopefully only caffeine overdose. Besides that, my day was pretty good

Wow... that's actually pretty scary.

message 4: by Tachi (new)

Tachi My life is pretty average, and having something like that happen to me is rare:p It's pretty weird how ordinary life can seem then something's weird happens

I know right.

Does anyone have any special plans for Christmas?

message 6: by Tachi (new)

Tachi Not really. It's going to be the same Christmas from last year.

message 7: by Ashley, Discussion Leader (new)

Ashley Day | 185 comments Mod
Aw, well I hope it's fun and you have a lot of time to read!

message 8: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer My extended family lives far far away and won't be able to visit on Christmas, so instead of the big, crazy, hectic madhouse of a holiday that I'm used to (that I miss) it'll be a quiet get together with my immediate family. We'll laugh and love and make the most of the holiday, and go out of our way not to mention how homesick we are.
Sorry. That sounds depressing. I'm looking forward to Christmas. I really am. I really think even though my funds have been ridiculously tight I've found some crowd-pleasers presents this year.
And let's be honest- no one really cares about the gifts as long as my family spends the day together... driving each other crazy. Wouldn't be the holidays otherwise.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to let you know that I launched my book blog (finally!) after forever of setting it up and getting everything to go smoothly.

Check it out here. It would mean a lot to me if you checked it out and told me what you thought!

message 10: by Tachi (new)

Tachi It looks great. I love the purple.

Haha thanks guys :)

message 12: by Katherine (new)

Katherine (katheranne) | 20 comments I agree, it looks awesome! And I love the watercolor :) My one critique is that Pinterest is misspelled - sorry, I'm a bit of a grammar/spelling nazi (not to mention a bit OCD) so I can't resist!

message 13: by Ashley, Discussion Leader (new)

Ashley Day | 185 comments Mod
Oh wow I just realized that. Thanks! I'll fix it tomorrow :)

How were all of your Christmases??? Anyone get any book related presents?

message 15: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer X-mas was amazing. Most of my gifts were books (my loved ones know me so well). I've already finished one and am halfway through another. Oh yeah, X-mas was amazing.

message 16: by Ashley, Discussion Leader (new)

Ashley Day | 185 comments Mod
Wow, which book did you already finish :)

message 17: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Doctor Sleep by Stephen King. It's a sequel to The Shining. I couldn't put it down.
How about you? Did you get all the books you needed?
(Books, like oxygen, are a need not a want).

message 18: by Ashley, Discussion Leader (new)

Ashley Day | 185 comments Mod
Haha, that they are.

I got a John Green box set from my parents and a total of $75 in gift cards to B&N from my relatives, so I'm pretty happy. I'm going to go on a total book haul soon.

message 19: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer I could lose my mind in B&N with a $75 gift card. Although knowing me I'd spend the gift card and then $50 of my own money.

message 20: by Ashley, Discussion Leader (new)

Ashley Day | 185 comments Mod
Haha, yup... that's actually what might happen to me too. o.O

message 21: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer The road is treacherous, but there's no better way to spend the day than surrounded by books.

"A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one" - George R. R. Martin

While we are on the topic of book quotes XD

Jennifer “You're never alone when you're reading a book.”

I'm always surrounded by friends.

message 24: by Katherine (new)

Katherine (katheranne) | 20 comments My parents gave me a kindle for Christmas, which is great... except for the fact that I'm kind of strongly opposed to kindles. I totally see why an electronic reader is a logical and convenient thing to use, but I just really prefer real books! Soo I'm still not sure how I feel about it. They gave me an amazon gift card to go with it and I'm really tempted to use part of it to buy actual books...is that terrible?

message 25: by Ashley, Discussion Leader (new)

Ashley Day | 185 comments Mod
Of course it isn't! I prefer physical copies as well. I just love the feel of paper in my hands (and the smell of books.... yeah, I'm weird).

I have a kindle as well and actually, I've grown to like it. I've been going on vacations a lot lately and I think it's great that I can take 50 books with me in my purse.

message 26: by Katherine (new)

Katherine (katheranne) | 20 comments Ha yeah, avoiding my usual habit of lugging around a giant bag of books on vacation will be nice. My issue so far is that if I really really want a book, then I want the physical copy. But if I don't want to read it as badly then I don't want to spend money on it! As a result, so far I've just downloaded a bunch of classics for free, and I've only actually spent 99 cents! :)

message 41: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Finally a day off. I have errands to run. A house to clean. Instead I spent nearly three hours at the library. Today has been a good day.

:) today was my first day back at school. My school has a used book store down the block and I'm one of their favorite customers. Almost no one had gone in for the past 2 weeks, so I was able to find 16 books on my TBR list there. 16. I bought 16 new books.... I still can't believe it.

message 43: by Aisha (new)

Aisha (aisha_i) @Ashley Lucky you! I haven't been able to find any good used bookstores near me. I did a BN book haul, I went a little overboard and bought 16 books. What books did you buy?

message 44: by Ashley, Discussion Leader (new)

Ashley Day | 185 comments Mod
The Host, 5 Tolkien books, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo trilogy, A Million Little Pieces, City of Bones, The Lightning Thief, and some other books for school. ;)

message 45: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer @Ashley I'm jealous there are no used bookstores near me. I'm glad you had fun.

message 46: by Aisha (new)
