message 6: by Bree (new)

Bree It was the one where the person you were with left I believe. I was disappointed too. It was getting very good.

message 7: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 152 comments Haha yeah ]= so what should the plot be centere around??

message 8: by Bree (new)

Bree I had an idea occur to me to make things a bit more interesting. Guy A, my character, has his father recently pass away for whatever reason and legal custody over his son, Guy A, is placed onto his brother, your character Guy B. Throughout their relationship, there could be factors of guilt and betrayal to the dead father/brother this way.

message 15: by Bree (new)

Bree I think the funeral would be a fun place to start. Well, it'll still be sad, but you know what I mean...

Unfortunately, I have to go now. I'm volunteering to help under-privileged kids get holiday gifts for their family members. I'll be back later :)

Morgan | 152 comments Dimitri rolled over in bed, a small sigh escaping his lips as he retracted his arm around what was sure to be some random girls wrist. He rubbed at his eyes trying to wake himself up, letting out a small groan when he finally managed to lean against the headboard. He looked down at her his head pounding from all the drinks he’d had last night. His eyes flickered across his old room as a smile played across his lips- before it quickly soured. Today was his brother’s funeral. He gritted his teeth before getting up from the bed trying to keep any and all emotions in check as he slipped on his glasses.

“Hey there.” The girl murmured waking up as she rolled over in the bed.

“You need to leave.” He replied shortly as he got up from the bed slipping some clothes on as well as his boots. Everyone had their way of dealing with things and apparently Dimitri’s was sleeping around.

She looked at him in confusion, but he didn’t bother to say anything else as he left the room. He was greeted downstairs by his mom as he gave her a small kiss on the cheek. He hugged her tightly not at all knowing how she must feel, especially since she’d always believed a child should never die before their parents. She sniffled slightly into his shirt before she pulled away wiping under her eyes. “You sit down and I’ll finish making this food.” She said shooing him towards the table.

Bree Aidan had been up for a while now. He was sitting in a chair hunched over his desk where his homework lay sprawled out before him. He had a half empty cup of coffee on top of his advanced mathematics book that had gotten cold quickly when the taste of coffee seemed to become too bitter and stale. Aidan had been on independent study for the past four days since his father had died. The school had decided to 'gift' him with some time off. It didn't help him at all that he was alone and away from people. It made things worse for him. Being in this house was a constant painful reminder that there was someone who lived here and wasn't going to come back. At least with school, it would have given him a distraction from this.

He ran a hand through his hair then closed his notebook that was open in front of him. He wasn't falling behind. Hell he was one of the top students in his class. It was just that he was on top of things, and he couldn't keep himself busy. When he wasn't busy, negative thoughts were attracted to him like flies were attracted to rotten meat. It wasn't pleasant at all. Aidan stood up and walked out of his room bringing with him his half finished coffee mug.

He found his way to the kitchen then sloshed the remains of the cold coffee into the sink. He set the cup down beside the sink then found his way to the fridge. He nudged the door shut with his foot when he grabbed the milk and set it down beside the box of cereal left there from yesterday's breakfast. Today was his dad's funeral, and the rest of the family would be there. Aidan didn't want them to feel bad for him and think he wasn't strong enough to handle this. He didn't want to give his family that would be there a reason to be more upset then they already were.

message 21: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 152 comments He ate his breakfast slowly, his gaze torn away from the table as he heard footsteps padding down the stairs. He clenched his jaw restraining himself from rolling his eyes as he saw the girl descending the stairs in what appeared to be one of his oversized t-shirts as well as some of his baggy sweatpants. Dimitri supposed he could live with out them- but did this girl really have to go through his things. She looked at him with a small yet hesitant smile, probably wondering if it was okay. Which it most certainly wasn’t.

His mother being the kind soul she was offered her some breakfast shaking her head at her son sadly, “Demi.” She murmured under her breath as she passed him squeezing his shoulder weakly. He nodded his head in understanding knowing he’d disappointed her for what seemed to be the third time this week. He ate his food quickly before standing up.

Making his way back upstairs he stopped by the bathroom to brush his teeth before grabbing his suit and tie. He rushed downstairs grabbing the girls hand. “I’m gonna go drop this one off and see how Aidan is.” He told his mother, explaining to the girl that her things from last night were in the car on their way outside.

message 22: by Bree (new)

Bree Aidan poured himself a bowl of cereal then added the milk afterward. He brought his bowl of cereal to the living room couch. He sat himself down with his breakfast in his hands then he turned on the television to a recording of the movie 'Red.' He spooned several mouthfuls of cereal into his mouth while he watched the movie. He knew that sooner or later, he'd have to go grocery shopping and get something besides cereal for him to eat. Aidan could only hand so much of Lucky Charms and Cheerios.

Half way into the movie, Aidan finished his soggy cereal. His phone buzzed when one of his cousins texted him. It was Olivia. He set his bowl down on the coffee table then he grabbed his phone. "Hey. I'll c u @the funeral today. Do u want to hang out afterward?". Aidan sighed. He and Olivia were really close growing up, but then she and her mother moved away. Things changed, and so did Aidan.

Aidan turned off the movie and put his phone in his pajama pants pocket. He grabbed his empty bowl and put it into the sink. He might as well as get ready since he had plenty of time to do so. He walked down the hall way to his room and pulled out a fresh change of clothes. Aidan had had his own bathroom attached his room since he and his dad moved here, so he left his clothes for the funeral on his bed when he walked into the bathroom. He stripped down then he stepped into the hot shower.

Morgan | 152 comments He dropped the girl off with limited success before heading back towards his brother house. Once he was there he sat in the driveway his hands wrapped tightly around the wheel as his knuckles turned white. He'd been back in town for a week now and he still had yet to walk inside. He was anxious of the happy memories and everything else in side. Not for the first time he wondered how Aidan could stay there all alone since his father's demise. His hands fell away from the wheel almost as if in slow motion before he forced himself from the car. Reassuring himself it wouldn't be so bad as he kept the tears that were forming in his eyes from falling.

He didn't bother to knock as he fumbled with his keys walking inside. He shook his head at the small mess as soon as he opened the door. Already he was beginning to debate just turning around and leaving. But he knew that wouldn't be right. He quickly got inside closing the door behind him before he could possibly ever change his mind. He looked around as he heard the shower running upstairs. He called out to him that he was there, not wanting to surprise him to much when he was finished. His eyes scanned the kitchen slowly as he began looking through the cabinets pressing his lips together in a thin line as he saw no food laying around and Dimitri instantly felt bad for not coming sooner.

To fill the silence he turned on the radio, humming softly along with the lyrics as he avoided looking at all the family pictures that hung across the wall and across the mantel above the fire place in the living room. A sad smile settled across his face as he made his way around the bottom floor before returning to the kitchen. Instantly he began to wash the over piling dishes in the sink, unable to do nothing and see them sitting there.

Bree Aidan heard his uncle yell when eh arrived. Aidan had been so busy, or at least, busy mentally, that he had forgotten that his uncle was giving him a ride to his dad's funeral. Aidan would've driven himself, but he didn't have a car. The one that he and his dad were restoring was still in the garage. Aidan hadn't found it in him to touch that vehicle since his dad died. The only other car that Aidan and his dad had, was the work car that his dad had and it was the one he crashed in. The car was totaled- there was no way to save it, and there was no way to save his dad. Aidan's hand pressed against the cold tile of his shower as his head bowed forward while water continued to drip down his naked body. He didn't feel the tears slide down his cheeks since they mixed seamlessly with the water from the shower head.

Aidan turned off the water then stepped out of the shower. He grabbed a towel off of a nearby rack, then he began to use it to dry his hair while he shook his head like a dog after a bath. He placed the towel back on the rack in his bathroom then he put on the clothes that he had laid out for himself. His hair was mostly dry when he went down stairs. As he descended down the steps, he heard the familiar squeak and slosh of dishes being washed. A sense of hope swelled up inside of him when he thought that it was his dad that was home. His dad had woken up and found the dishes Aidan had forgotten to do. He'd give him one of his famous talks, then the two would go to the garage to work on the car again. Aidan rounded the corner and was in the kitchen then only to see that it was his uncle instead of his dad doing the dishes.

He tried not to feel like a balloon after someone had taken a crude push pin to it. Don't get him wrong, he was glad to see someone else in the house. "Hey Dimitri, how's it going?" he asked to his uncle. He walked into the kitchen the leaned against a counter casually. He looked past his uncle and saw his hands, still working on the dishes. "You know you don't have to do that. I was going to clean them later," he pointed out. It was somewhat of a lie. Aidan had planned on doing them later, but he didn't know when later was.

message 25: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 152 comments Dimitri looked over his shoulder shrugging slightly and biting his lip as he looked back down at the dishes- unable to look at him for a moment as he looked just like his father. He sighed softly biting his lip as he finished up. "Fine." he said softly his eyes flickering towards him for a moment as he shook his head slightly. "Oh, you were going to clean them?" He asked raising an eyebrow mockingly, "When? Never?" He grabbed the towel to start drying them just so he was doing something with his hands, his gaze remaining on the dishes and the cabinets alone.

message 26: by Bree (new)

Bree "No," Aidan said stubbornly then he looked down suddenly taking an interest in his shoes then he looked up at his uncle. "...Evetnually," he admitted. "But, thanks for doing that anyway," he added when there had been an awkward silence forming between the two if them. Aidan and his uncle hadn't really talked since Aidan's dad had made sure to keep Aidan away from the kind of world Dimitri lived in. He and his uncle were closer when Aidan was like seven since his dad didn't have anyone else to watch over Aidan, but him and his uncle weren't so close anymore. Aidan was beginning to feel that need and want to do something to keep himself busy since his dad came into his mind again, so he walked over to his uncle's side. He sighed. "Here, I'll take care of it," he said then he grabbed some of the dishes that Dimitri dried and put them away in the cabinets where they belonged.

message 27: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 152 comments Dimitri rolled his shoulders slightly shaking his head, "It's fine." He said softly, not bothering to fill in the silence between them. He usually wasn't much for talking unless he had a few beers in him. And what did they even have to talk about? His brother was dead. The kids father was dead. And that was a sore topic in itself. He didn't want to nag him about anything, being he wasn't exactly one to do so, and he really had no place. He moved aside as Aidan took over. With that he began to look through the drawers and the fridge, raising an eyebrow at the complete vacancy of food. "What have you been eating?" He questioned, looking at some of the expired labels on yogurts, but that seemed to be all that was left. He didn't bother to look in the freezer though- assuming it would only leave him with the same results as he turned to face his nephew.

message 28: by Bree (last edited Jan 12, 2014 06:16PM) (new)

Bree Aidan hadn't planned to feel this pang of guilt when Dimitri asked him what he had been eating. To be honest, it shouldn't have even made him feel this way. Aidan didn't need to look up to know that his uncle was sifting through the cabinets and fridge to see what kind of food there. He could hear everything. He sighed again shaking his head, and while he continued to work on the dishes, he said looking over at his uncle "Whatever's been here, I guess." Aidan remembered that his uncle was probably going to be the only company he would have all day, so he should, in retrospect, find something for them both to talk about. The thing was, Aidan didn't know where to start. Everything that he could think of, was either an awkward, or it lead back to Aidan's dad. He really didn't want to talk about his dad right now. Aidan later finished washing and putting away the dishes, and found that he hadn't really thought of how little food he had. He had been planning on getting a job since his grades were good, but he never got to finishing his application to the only place that was accepting people his age.

Morgan | 152 comments ((So sorry, haven't been on much. Would you want to continue with this one?))

message 30: by Bree (new)

Bree (( Sure. ))

message 31: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 152 comments Dimitri shook his head at the boys reply as he closed the last cabinet. "Later," He couldn't bring himself to say after the funeral, "We'll go shopping for some food." He said with a nod as if to make the task set in stone. He ran his fingers through his hair taking another look around, and finding the empty house to be absolutely depressing. He could barely remember having been there in the past few years, but the few times he had it had always been so full of life. He cleared his throat, leaning back against the cabinet and looking back at his nephew, but not too directly. "You about ready to go?" He asked, looking him up and down for a moment before pulling his keys out of his pocket.

message 32: by Bree (new)

Bree "Oh, cool, thanks," Aidan said in response to Dimitri saying that they would go shopping for food later. The thought and memory of his dad continued to eat away at his mind and continue to drain him of any happiness. He did his best to dismiss it when he said "I'm all set" in response to his uncle asking if he was ready to go. He only really needed the clothes on his back and his cellphone with him to go to the funeral. His other family members had already taken care of the service, so Aidan hadn't needed to do anything to help arrange it. Now that Aidan thought about it, it had been a while since he had had any kind of contact with people or socialization except his uncle that was here with him now. Aidan still went out on the morning for his early jog, but the only point of that, really, was to exercise. Then it occurred to him: the one thing that he was loathing more than the funeral, was the social worker that would come up to Aidan and more than likely send him to some foster family since he was still a minor. This wasn't going to be a good day for him.

message 33: by Morgan (new)

Morgan | 152 comments Dimitri couldn't really tell if the thanks was sincere, but shrugged it off as he headed back towards the door, his fingers tightening slightly around his keys. He hadn't exactly been told what would happen to the kid after the funeral and all, and to be honest he hadn't really thought much about it. But now it was the only question running through his mind. What would even happen to him? He pressed his lips together, imagining that the most likely scenario would probably be Aidan living with their- his, mother. He looked back at him over his shoulder before opening the front door, silently, holding it open for him with a nod, motioning for him to leave first.

message 34: by Bree (new)

Bree Aidan followed after Dimitri toward his front door, then he walked past his uncle leaving his house after Dimitri had held the door open for him. He didn't wait up for his uncle when he walked over to his uncle's car that was parked in front of his house. Since his uncle's car was locked, Aidan stood by the passenger side door waiting for Dimitri to come up his vehicle and unlock it so they could get inside. Now that Aidan thought about it, he hadn't seen any of his family members aside from Dimitri in a long time. He had forgotten how their family was, and he wasn't sure whether or not they would be trying to show pity for Aidan, or try to encourage to believe that things would okay now. They would okay, but Aidan just wanted things to get back to the way they were before all of this happened. The pictures along the inside of the walls in the house were proof that thing were great with Aidan and his dad. His mother taking off had only strengthened their bond, and they were inseparable in every sense of the way.
