Was going to suggest pushing the limits loved that book. You could check out Anna and the french kiss by Stephanie Perkins very light romance set in Paris and it only has companion novels so you don't have to read them.

The distance between us by Kasie west you might enjoy I didn't love it but it's enjoyable enough. It's a contemporary romance which is very light.

I capture the castle by Dodie Smith I loved it's a vintage classic. But I loved how the romance was presented in this the female lead is very grown up for her age and funny.

On the Jellicoe Road This is one of my favorite books ever and I think it fits your criteria so I highly recommend it!
