im currently reading Song of Susannah. currently on chapter 11.

Finind it the quickest DT book yo read, so far not much has really happened to drive tge saga forward except we now know much more about Mia and about the Wolves.

Stanza 11 is really something. Even when you're prepared for it. This quotation stood out to me t'other night from it:

« 'But I'm afraid,' Roland said. 'I feel as though we're approaching the centre of everything - the Tower itself, mayhap. It's as if, after all these years, the quest itself has become the point for me, and the end is frightening. »

I'm currently reading this one, about 3/4 done. I'm liking the parts with Rolan and Eddie but the parts with Susannah and Mia just seem to run on and they are reaching my bizzare level.

I really did not like the Susannah/Mia storyline including what it ends up leading to. Seemed unnecessary.

The only book in the DT series I did'nt like.

I just finished. I would have really liked it without the Susannah/mia storyline. It just got too bizzare and drawn out. I was having trouble caring or even paying attention.

Haha, you say true.

SoS has gotten a lot of stick this past decade but I never thought it was bad - read it twice in that short window between it and vol 7 coming out. I liked the 'set over a day' concept, I lapped up the mythos Mia told us... tbh the only lesser parts were with Calvin Tower and the boring lease stuff. But the tet needed to thrash that deal out for the sake of the worlds.

Even the sidestep into 'our world' was necessary to make Mid-World all the sweeter when (or if!) the ka-tet return there later on. :)

I don't think it is bad at all. I think people just tend to point out the weakest of a great series. I actually liked the lease stuff and the formation of the tet corporation.
