Reviewers have sometimes described a novel’s hero as being a Christ-like figure. Susan can be described as a Moses-like figure. Where do you see this in her returning to Thailand or reuniting with her birth mother? Where do you see this–or not–in her following Noklek’s and Tuptim’s politicization?
