YA / MG Read-A-Holics Not-So-Anonymous discussion

Who has read this book? What did you think of it? The characters? The plots? The humor? Talk about it here WITHOUT having to discuss it the way we do in school (where all you talk about is the converging plot of symbolic local color foreshadowing the irony of imagery and character revelation).

Personally, I love this book. Love, LOVE, LOVE it!!! Atticus is a great character, and Scout's narration makes everything seem funnier. I think everyone should read this book at some point in their life. :)

This is one of my favorite books ever! I don't think I have read anything that actually has topped this book yet :-)

What do you think of Mayella? I don't like the fact that she lied on the witness stand, but I do feel sorry for her: growing up with no friends, abused, etc. She's redeemed in that way.

In fact, most of the characters in this book who have faults can be redeemed in some way. The exception? Bob Ewell. Ugh. (His last name actually means "evil.")

Oh, and interesting factoid: (I'll stop gushing about the book soon.No, that wasn't the factoid.)

Harper Lee's middle/maiden name is Cunningham Finch. Wonder which side she favored... Lol.

So it's Nelle Cunningham Finch Harper Lee... Wowsers...

Read this in high school - LOVED IT (and the movie). I was so sad to see Harper Lee's passing last week. :(
