Road
"So where are we heading again?" she couldn't remember whether or not she had already asked, so she figured on asking again.
Lansing started his car back up and resumed following after the other crew. Another couple hours, maybe, alone in the car. The radio stopped working a long time ago, so it would just be him in the silence. Something he once enjoyed, now couldnt stand.
"Why isn't the music on?" Thalia asked reaching towards the front to press on the radio button. Before she could reach the button she looked out the window distracted by all the cars. "And why is their no traffic?" she still didn't seem to understand the whole 'end of the world thing'.
Cate stayed quiet as she drove, deciding to let either Cassie or her brother to answer the little girl's questions. Honestly she herself missed the music that used to play on her radio. Music had always been something that she felt could express whats she was thinking when her words failed her.
The sights of the road actually depressed Landon a bit. There were crashed cars in one period, and within the next twenty feet, it would be clear. The panic that the dead were coming back had everyone in a frenzy. Everyone was trying to save themselves, no matter what the cost. Some people were idiots. That statement was so hypocritical of him. Why? Because he did the same thing.
"The radio doesn't work anymore Thals," Kris said, turning around to face the girls in the back seat. He wasn't sure how to answer the girl's second question. It was kind of a sad sight, all the cars empty and smashed together, but he tried not to think on it.
Kris shrugged, giving Cassie a sympathetic smile. She had more courage to answer Thalia's questions than he did. "So Thals, Cass and I were finding out each others favorite colors, so whats yours?" he asked, hoping to take the girls mind off of everything else around her.
"Purple" Thalia said before glancing back out the window. Wondering why no one would answer her question besides Cassie, she decided not to ask another question. Blowing a strand of hair out of her face she put her chin on the back of the drivers seat.
"Thats a nice color Thals, do you mind if I call you that?" Kris asked, still facing the back seat so he could talk with the girls. This was turning out to be a very good thing having these girls here, he wasn't as bored as he usually was. Cate got pretty boring after a while, especially since she was always telling him to take things more seriously now that the world had gone to shit.
"I don't mind" she grinned and leaned back into the seat. She didn't get why ever avoided her second question except for Cassie, but she decided not to ask anymore questions. Humming to herself she looked out the window, tracing her finger over the glass window as if she was drawing something.
"A puppy" she said though not paying much attention. Thalia pulled her hand back and stared at the glass as though admiring her work. "It's a puppy but it's lost in someone's yard." she added.
Kris frowned slightly at what Thalia had said before glancing over at Cate to see if she was paying any attention to what was going on. But of course she wasn't, when Cate was behind the wheel she didn't pay much attention to anything but the road.~ ~ ~
Cate's mind began to wander as the scene that played out in front of her began to get very repetitive. Nothing but empty, sometimes bloody, cars that may or may not contain the bodies of their previous owners.
Thalia fell back into her seat, frowning as the car drove past a small SUV. Their was a bloody handprint on its window, and Thalia couldn't help but place her hand on their own window. "Look, they fingerprinted their car" Thalia said while slowly drawing her hand away from the window and rested it in her lap. She wasn't expecting an answer, it was like what mama used to say: the big kids want some time alone.
Lansing followed Cates car, not really paying any attention to the surroundings anymore. After countless hours of driving, he was used to seeing the militated bodies, destroyed vehicles, and blood. Is it bad that he was starting to consider that normal? And how long has it been? A few months. After a few months this sight was almost normal to him, and frankly that was starting to scare and worry him.
Kris cleared his throat, hoping to diffuse the silence that had settle into the car. "So, we went over favorite colors already," he started, turning once more to face Cassie and Thalia better. "How about favorite animal?" he said, looking at Thalia. "You go first kiddo,"
"Dinosaurs" Thalia giggled and grinned sheepishly at the roof of the car. "The big ones with the long necks" she blinked slightly, imaging dinosaurs running across the roof. "And I- I like them cause their big and friendly." tracing a name into the air she smiled proudly since she could still remember it.
Kris grinned, "Nice choice kiddo, dinosaurs are pretty cool." he agreed with a nod of his head. The more he talked with these girls the more he began to realize how much he really missed his old life. Hell, he even missed the sounds of his parents fighting. Just hearing other people's voices was a beautiful sound to him now a days, one he'd never take for granted.
Thalia leaned forward eagerly waiting for his reply. Suddenly turning she hopped up onto her knees and gazed out the back window, a blank look on her face as if she couldn't remember her previous thought. Thalia was on the border line of boredom and couldn't wait to get out of the car.
(Hey... Who do I reply to XD I've been pre-occupied with other roleplays and I was messaged that I needed to reply here.

Tanner spoke, looking on the vacant highway. "Remember? North equals weaker walkers, me watching Walking Dead to get info, watch out for Justin Walker?"
(Get it? Justin Walker? Instead of Justin Beiber, which sounds like beaver? XD)
"Oh hilarious" she smiled at how cheesy and horrible this boys jokes were. "So does the radio work?..." Mercy was too tired to actually know what they had talked about. Running a hand through her hair she yawned tiredly shutting her eyes.
"Yeah, but I don't touch it. I usually find static or screams." Tanner answered, remembering that he mentioned this before, but didn't speak of it. "So, Mercy, where did you originally come from? Or were you always from Texas?" Tanner asked out of curiousity.
She laughed slightly. "Texas all the way baby. Their ain't no other place I'd rather be" she joked, letting herself slip into her Texan accent. "And Were you always the jock at school?" She raised an eyebrow in questioning. Mercy had had her fair share of jocks and popular kids when she had gone to school.
"Yeah, to be honest. I was the quarterback of my school, and had a GPA of 4.0, which was straight A's in my school." Tanner spoke before frowning. "I used to be prideful about everything... Now I'm a nervous wreck. If you saw me a week ago at that one abandoned town, I would literally be shivering in fear, jumping at anything that made noise."
Maddi wrote: "Cassie smiled. "I always wanted a pet dinosaur," she said. She glanced at Kris and winked. This was nice to talk with others after such a long time. She hated spending time alone. "So, Kris, what i...""Hmmm," Kris said, tapping his chin as if in deep thought. "Cant say I have a favorite." he finally decided on with a slight shrug of his shoulders.

Cate saw a sign up a head for a gas station not too far from where they were. "Hey guys, we're gonna stop at that gas station up a head, just to check for supplies." she said, loud enough that everyone in the car could hear. She rolled her window down before sticking her hand out the window to signal to Lansing that that was their next stop. They needed to make sure their weapons were accounted for and ready before the reached the base.
"How about your favorite food? Mine's that cold stuff.... I can't remember what it's called" she pouted slightly. Thalia was thinking about ice cream but it had been too long since she had last eaten some. "You know... the really sweet, cold stuff that melts in your mouth?" she grinned awkwardly.
Lansing saw the red haired girl stick her head out the window--Cate?-- and knew that was where they would stop for a bit. Has they really been driving that long? Probably. He tended to find himself zoning out as he drove. Why not? What else would be focus on? The dead lumbering after him? The wrecked cars they drove by? Or perhaps the mangled bodies along the side of the road, unidentifiable as human at this point. Yeah, he rather not. It was during times of travel that he wished the radio would work. Lansing made a mental note to see if he could come across any CDs when they had time to raid another car. He couldn't be denied all pleasures could he? Following the others car, he pulled in slowly to the rest stop and stopped his car, scanning the area quickly, deeming it safe upon appearance, before parking it. Immediately he grabbed his gun as he opened the door with his other hand.
Thalia squirmed around in the seat frowning. "Ice cream..." she drawled out with a nod. "Can we get ice cream?" she pleaded, jutting her bottom lip out pleadingly. "Are we here?" she asked excitedly reaching for the door handle but not opening the door until she was told to do so.

"I used to be prideful about everything... Now I'm...""Oh wow" she laughed lightly and glanced at her delicate nails. She frowned slightly and turned around, leaning towards the back of the car. Her hands closed over her bag and pulled a small bright red container of nail polish. It had been insanely hard to find but at least she had a reason to paint her nails now: she was in the presence of another. A guy to be exact.
Cate shut off the car, stuffing the keys in her pocket, and truned around to face the two girls in the back. "Stay together and stay quiet." she said, dead serious, before getting out of the car.~ ~ ~
Kris rolled his eyes as he watched his sister exit the car. "Cate's not being mean, she just doesn't want you guys to get hurt." he said, giving the both of them a reassuring smile. "Lets do this then, shall we?" Opening the door, he got out of the car and waited for the two girls.
((To the gas station thread! :3))

"What are you doing, Mercy?" He asked, slightly curious. He found that being around someone again grew his interest on who she was. Not only because there was a little part of him that wasn't sure weather to trust her or not, but there's was mainly the part where he's been isolated from normal humankind for a long time. The only close to talking to a person was mindlessly talking to a walker trapped on a fence when he about broke his own sanity.
Max ~Slowly Going InSAnE~ wrote: "Rachel♚Awe that was wicked rude♚Rachel wrote: ""Oh wow" she laughed lightly and glanced at her delicate nails. She frowned slightly and turned around, leaning towards the back of the car. Her hands...""Nothing" she quickly dropped her bag onto her lap and tapped her hands together trying to think of what to say. "I was just looking for... a... water bottle" she said quickly, letting the lie roll of her tongue, smooth like butter and rough like bark. She slowly pulled out the water bottle and grinned awkwardly, "Found it" she laughed nervously before tossing the water bottle back into her bag,not wanting to waste any water unless she really was thirsty.
Tanner smiled, not minding. Even if that wasn't what she was looking for, he found this urge to trust her. "Alright. By the way, if we get low on water, finding a lake would be one of our options." Tanner mentally smacked himself. What? Why would he even say that, it was quite obvious. He sighed mentally. Why am I so nervous? I can't tell if it's because she's a girl or because she's the first thing to humankind I have ever met so far...
"But wakers could have been in the lake that we would drink out of. So... shoudn't we just find a house with running water?" she raised an eyebrow with a grin, leaning her forehead against the window tiredly.
(I edited the comment.)"Y-Yeah... Right... Silly me..." Tanner added a mental Facepalm to that mental slap. Why didn't he think of that detail?! Ugh, he needed to get himself together.
She laughed at how nervous he seemed, competely understanding the feeing. "Calm down, i'm just a person" she rolled her eyes before pausing. "I mean... alive... person" she bit her lip awkwardly.
Tanner nodded. "...So what's your story? Everyone has one tragic story about before the End. What's yours?" Tanner smiled, curious, then shifted to a frown, kinda wondering what her story could be. It might be worse than his.
"Uh... my story. It's not that fun" she adverted her gaze nervously, having never really talked to anyone about her shit life before. But she felt like she could trust him.... but then again, her judgement wasn't that good considering she hand't been around people in a long time.
"Neither is mine." Tanner frowned. "I'm just curious to see what kind of terrible thing you came from. Everyone's backstory affects their future. Trust me. As I said, I used to be scared at anything that moved. And that was because of what happened to me."
She shrugged ever so slightly, debating internally if she should tell him or not. "My mom died of cancer when I was 6, and then my dad died in a car crash 4 years later. And then when I was 14, my little sister got eaten alive. Funny how things work out for me: having to watch my entire family died one by one." she turned to watch him, an absent look on her face. Inside, she was screaming- screaming at herself for telling, for not showing any emotion, and for making it sound unimportant. "What about you?" she asked after a moment of silence.
"...Similar." Tanner frowned. "My parents died in a car crash. I had seen the crash passing by, the cars so damaged I didn't even recognize my parents car. I was in high school, GPA of 4.0, etc as you know, but then that happened. My sanity just... Crashed. With the help of my emo/gothic brother and my little sister, I got back my control, but then The End began. My group was my siblings. Alex, my brother, was the first to die. He stalled the hoard just long enough for us to escape... Then my sister..." Tanner stared into the blank road. "... It seemed time slowed... My sister tripped and the walkers just... Next thing I knew I was staring, watching exactly how they tore her flesh apart, her screams ringing in my ears, the snapping of bones... Then I ran... Just ran..." Tanner stopped speaking after that. Just for a few minutes. Then he slowly opened his mouth again. "...I was left alone... And my sanity... shattered..."
She nodded ever so slightly, letting her eyelids slide shut with exhaustion. So much for a nice bed time story. "I'm taking a nap. Wake me up in an hour and I can drive for a while if you want" she mumbled, thoughts running through her mind as she took a shallow breathe. Mercy pulled her sweatshirt around herself in an attempt to feel more comfortable.

[ Location ] Where ever your little heart desires
[ Summary ] This will probably be one of the vaguest topics here. Instead of creating ever single main road in existence, I've decided to create one. Hopefully I don't have to summarize a road for all of you, if I do, then call a specialist, therapist, someone? (: Just a note, try and make sure the thread isn't being used as another group is traveling. If needed, I'll make another road thread.
Here is a picture if your having issues imagining what a road looks like. Concrete, bare, yellow lines, and depending on where you are at, it may be littered with cars. Walkers tend to pop out of no where, so: beware!
